This book is a personal guide to Mexico City. For the price of a cup of Starbucks, you get everything I know about the city, plus photos, live Google Maps links, and practical advice. Tourism was on the decline for a number of years in Mexico, but it’s coming back in a big way now. A total of 8 million tourists visited Mexico City in 2016, 2 million of them from abroad, up at least 10% from the year before. Time Out rated Mexico City as number 6 in their “Fun City†list. The New York Times listed Mexico City as the #1 tourist destination in 2016. 2017 looks to be the biggest year ever for tourism. I will tell you what I love about this city. I will show you how to ride taxis, how to use Google Maps to get routes for public transit, and what are some fun things to do and see. I am assuming that you have access to Yelp and TripAdvisor, so you can look up any particular restaurant, hostel or hotel and see what the reviews are like. I’m not going to try to duplicate this. I'll just mention a few that like best. Instead, I'm going to concentrate on *how* to visit Mexico City. What to pack, where to go, and how to make the best of your experience. I will include a bit of history and a bit about some of the most interesting things to see. I will include tips on taxis and Ubers and how to find good street tacos and restaurants. I will also discuss police and legal problems and safety and health issues. For those who are planning to stay for a while, I have included information about markets and places to buy food, and I have even listed a couple of cookbooks.
