Revalidation and appraisal The GPC has recently issued guidance on ‘Revalidation for NHS GPs’ which sets out the revalidation process and how it will work. The guidance explains that LMCs have a role in ensuring that local appraisal systems are acceptable and that PCOs have to consult with LMCs about the appraisal systems that they provide. Londonwide LMCs is working with the LATS Medical Directors and other stakeholders, seeking to ensure that a fair, equitable, transparent and proportionate revalidation process is introduced which is consistent across London, this includes local guidance on presenting supporting information on CPD that is no more onerous than GMC requirements. You might find it helpful to review the Revalidation page on our website or alternatively email [email protected] if you have any specific queries. An FAQ on revalidation will shortly be available on our website so please review the page regularly for this and further updates. In the meantime the names of the three Responsible Officers (ROs) in London are now available. ▲Back to index

More places available for CQRS training Last month we wrote to you regarding CQRS (Calculating Quality Reporting Service) Training. CQRS is the system which will calculate QOF and other payments for GP practices across England from the 2013/14 financial year. QMAS will still calculate QOF payments for 2012/13, but will close in July 2013 at which point it will be replaced by CQRS. It is very important that at least one individual from each practice attends CQRS training. Following a number of requests for additional CQRS phase one training, Connecting for Health has lifted the restriction of one place per organisation. Bookings are now being taken for CQRS Training Phase 1 via the NHS Connecting for Health website, where you can also find more information. ▲Back to index

Londonwide LMCs continues to campaign for excellence in training Londonwide LMCs' stepped up its LETB (Local Education and Training Board) engagement activity earlier this month by facilitating a roundtable discussion amongst key Primary Care LETB representatives ahead of the new legislatory framework coming into force April 1 2013. A key component of Londonwide LMCs' education and workforce strategy is to campaign for adequately resourced multi-disciplinary training in a primary care setting in order to support GPs and their practice teams to deliver on the challenges posed by the out of hospital shift. Further engagement events with representatives of the three London LETB groups are planned throughout the year. If you would like to know more about this work or to get involved, please email Ariadne Siotis. ▲Back to index
