COLUMBUS CREW SC vs MONTRÉAL IMPACT MAPFRE STADIUM, Columbus, Ohio May 7, 2016 (WEEK 10, MLS Game #91) 7:30 p.m. ET (TWC-OH / CW Clb; RDS) Two of the Eastern Conference’s top three clubs from a year ago meet again in a key clash when Columbus Crew SC face off against the Montréal Impact for a second time this season, Saturday evening at Mapfre Stadium. The teams have started off in opposite directions this year. Crew SC still sit in ninth place in the division, returning home off a 1-0 loss at Seattle last weekend. The Impact still find themselves atop the conference, reaching a second successive draw last Saturday in a 2-2 result at home with Colorado. REFEREE: Armando Villarreal. Hassoun Camara and Kyle Bekker scored second-half goals to lead the Impact to a 2-0 win April 9 at Olympic Stadium. Crew SC has not scored a goal in their last three visits to Montréal in league play.  The Impact won the lone meeting in Columbus a year ago, a 2-1 win June 6, their first ever in Columbus, in six meetings there all-time. Crew SC won 2-1 on Sept. 14, 2013 at Stade Saputo, the only other victory by the away team in 11 meetings in the all-time series.  The teams also met in a pulsating Eastern Conference Semifinal Series last year. The Impact won the first leg 2-1 at Stade Saputo, then Crew SC advanced behind a 3-1 win in extra time in the second leg in Columbus as Kei Kamara netted a pair of goals, including the overtime winner.  Coaches record: Gregg Berhalter vs. MTL: P6 W2 L4 D0 … Mauro Biello vs. CLB: P1 W1 L0 D0 LAST MEETING (MLS): 4/9: MTL 2, CLB 0 (Camara 48; Bekker 86)  Both goals came on headers to give the Impact the victory. Three minutes into the second half, center back Hassoun Camara headed home from the center of the box from a corner kick to put the home side in front.  Then four minutes from the end, Ambroise Oyongo got free down the right flank and put in a cross for Kyle Bekker to head home unmarked to seal the match.  Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush was called upon to make just two saves in keeping the clean sheet.  COLUMBUS CREW SC (4-2-3-1): Steve Clark - Harrison Afful, Michael Parkhurst, Gaston Sauro (Tyson Wahl 25), Waylon Francis - Wil Trapp, Mohammed Saeid - Ethan Finlay, Federico Higuain, Justin Meram (Cedrick Mabwati 72) - Kei Kamara (Ola Kamara 70).  MONTREAL IMPACT (4-2-3-1): Evan Bush - Hassoun Camara (Ambroise Oyongo 72), Victor Cabrera, Laurent Ciman, Donny Toia - Kyle Bekker, Eric Alexander - Lucas Ontivero (Johan Venegas 67), Ignacio Piatti, Harry Shipp (Calum Mallace 81) - Dominic Oduro. COLUMBUS CREW SC Columbus Crew SC saw their winning run put to an end after two matches, falling 1-0 to Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday afternoon at CenturyLink Field. Crew SC are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 8 points from 8 games. LAST MATCH  The game's only goal came in the 88th minute, when Sounders FC rookie Jordan Morris was quickest to a loose ball in the Crew SC goalmouth after a shot from Oalex Anderson was halted, turning home a rebound from close range for the game-winner.

MLS GAME INFORMATION

Sounders FC goalkeeper Steven Frei made four saves in recording the shutout, while Crew SC goalkeeper Steve Clark was credited with seven saves until he was beaten at the end.  Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter made one change to the team that got the game’s only goal for a victory against the Houston Dynamo at Mapfre Stadium. Tony Tchani came back into the midfield in place of Mohammed Saeid.  COLUMBUS CREW SC (4-2-3-1): Steve Clark - Harrison Afful, Michael Parkhurst, Tyson Wahl, Waylon Francis - Wil Trapp, Tony Tchani (Rodrigo Saravia 77) - Ethan Finlay, Federico Higuain (Ola Kamara 87), Justin Meram (Cedrick Mabwati 71) - Kei Kamara. TEAM NEWS  Crew SC saw their two-game winning streak come to an end, returning to the road following back-to-back home victories. Crew SC lost a second consecutive away match (now 0-3-2 away from home).  “The fans probably got some good entertainment out of this game,” Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter said. “We came to play like we always do. Regardless of the atmosphere, we came to dominate the game. For large stretches, we did that. Unfortunately in the second half we weren’t able to maintain that up to our standard.”  Crew SC were also shut out at the attacking end for a second consecutive away match, now having gone their last 261 minutes on the road without scoring.  “I think it was a game of two halves in terms of us controlling the first half and them controlling the second half. A little bit disappointed with our reaction out of the locker room for the second half. I thought we lost our aggression,” Berhalter said. “You know, our pressing wasn’t good enough and it allowed them to take control of the game and after the first half of not scoring which I felt we had a couple of good opportunities to score a goal. It was disappointing to end the game like that.”  Tony Tchani returned to the lineup for his first start since March 19. He had missed out on the last three matches entirely, after coming on as a substitute on April 2.  Cedrick Mabwati came on as a substitute for the final 19 minutes, after not featuring each of the last two games. Mabwati has come on as a substitute in six of eight games this season.  Steve Clark was credited with seven saves, matching his single-game career-high in MLS, which he also achieved last May 30 vs. Orlando City.  “We are upset. We are distraught. We felt like we deserved to win that game and at the minimum take a point from it,” said defender Michael Parkhurst. “We are very upset with ourselves that we gave up a soft goal on a set piece like that. We fell asleep and they punished us for it. We have to finish a game out.” MONTRÉAL IMPACT The Montréal Impact reached their second draw in a row as their winless run hit three games, playing to a 2-2 result with the Colorado Rapids on Saturday afternoon at Stade Saputo. The Impact are in first place in the Eastern Conference with 14 points from 9 games. LAST MATCH  The Impact took the lead after just nine minutes when Didier Drogba whipped home a free kick. But the Rapids pulled even for the first time in the 47th minute when Shkelzen Gashi knocked home a Mekeil Williams cross from the right flank.  The Impact were back in front just three minutes after Maxim Tissot hammered home a low drive from well outside the area, beating Colorado goalkeeper Zac MacMath inside his left post.  Yet the Rapids had one final answer, Gashi starting a free kick service that eventually fell to Bobby Burling to stroke home in the 73rd minute for the leveler.  Impact head coach Mauro Biello made two changes to the team that reached a 1-1 draw with New York City FC at Yankee Stadium. Dominic Oduro and Harry Shipp came back into the side, replacing Marco Donadel and Johan Venegas.  MONTREAL IMPACT (4-2-3-1): Evan Bush - Ambroise Oyongo, Wandrille Lefevre, Laurent Ciman, Maxim Tissot - Kyle Bekker (Marco Donadel 63), Patrice Bernier (Lucas Ontivero 80) - Dominic Oduro, Harry Shipp, Ignacio Piatti - Didier Drogba. TEAM NEWS  It was a second consecutive draw for the Impact, having now gone three games since their last victory, their longest winless spell this season.  “I can’t question the effort by my team, which worked extremely hard,” said Impact head coach Mauro Biello. “My players were tired after three games this week, but they pushed very hard. We made a couple of mistakes that cost us three points, and the draw is disappointing, but we’re going to learn from this.”  It was also a second consecutive game at Stade Saputo without a win, after the 2-0 loss to Toronto FC on April 23. The Impact won their first two home games of the season, both at Olympic Stadium.  “We want to have this mindset at home where you take a lead and it’s going to be hard for the other team to climb back in the game, and they have to feel that mentally,” said Biello. “We could have done a better job of

winning second balls and not giving them those opportunities. We have to learn from it. The three points were there for the taking today. We made mistakes that cost us. To give up two goals, we have to do better.” Said defender Wandrille Lefevre: “Not being able to hold onto a lead twice is the sign of a team who’s struggling a little. We need to tighten things up.” Didier Drogba scored his second goal of the season, making his fifth appearance of the year, his third consecutive start. The goal was Drogba’s 13th in 16 appearances in league play since to the Impact and MLS. Of the 13 goals, four have been directly from free kicks. “We started this game well, leading 1-0,” said midfielder Patrice Bernier. “We were perhaps guilty of a lapse in concentration, and we let them back into the game. In the second half, it was an open game. But we let two points slip.” Maxim Tissot scored his first goal of the season, making a second consecutive start at left back. Tissot has scored five goals in his four MLS seasons, with at least one goal now in each campaign. Harry Shipp returned to the starting lineup after coming off the substitutes’ bench at midweek, again playing the full 90 minutes. Shipp collected his third assist of the year, his first since March 12. It was a second consecutive match without Hassoun Camara and a third in a row without Donny Toia, both of whom have suffered hamstring injuries that could sideline them for the next month. “It’s a phenomenon across the league and at this level,” Biello said. “We need to keep finding solutions to calculate the workload we give to players, depending of their individual profiles.”
