Alan Mais, the Camera Dr., Master Camera Technician present all day covering topics such as maintenance and care of your camera and accessories, preparing your equipment for inclement weather and condensation, trouble shooting your photos and free forum Q & A. Alan will also offer lens and DSLR Sensor cleanings at a special discount. GREAT PLAINS ART SHOW Featuring Nebraska artists and Nebraska inspired art Friday, March 11th 5:00-8:00pm Opening night reception with wine from Miletta Vista winery, hors d’oeuvres and pianist. Saturday-Sunday, March 12th-13th 9:00am-5:00pm Art Show Saturday, March 19th 2:00pm-5:00pm Ken and Jan Tell, Grand Island Public Schools Roots and Shoots “Nebraska Citizen Scientist Festival” The idea of this “Festival” originated with Jane Goodall; primatologist, ethologist, anthropologist, and UN Messenger of Peace, who is also the founder of the Roots & Shoots program. She visited Grand Island during the sandhill crane migration in March of 2015, spoke with one of our GIPS Roots and Shoots members, and challenged the group to create a festival which showcases student’s work from Nebraska that helps make this world a better place. GIPS Roots and Shoots group took on that challenge!

Saturday, March 26th 4:00pm Becky Matticks, Director of the Hastings Museum, History of the Platte River and surrounding area presentation followed by Q & A session. Sunday, March 27th 10:00am Doreen Pfost , Author and Naturalist, The River Beneath the Sky reading. 4:00pm Book signing and discussion. Doreen will join the blind tour with visitors that day as well. All events and presentations are open to the public and will be held at the Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center near Wood River in south central Nebraska, I-80 Alda Exit 305. Visitors can also browse our Hornady Art Gallery and Crimson Crown Gift Shop with Nebraska-made goods and walk our trails while they’re here.
