As an advertising compliance professional, you probably know all too well how hard it can be to get the right language and disclosures added to copy. Well, what if the entire ad is limited to 140 characters? How do you review a hashtag? Wouldn’t it be so much easier if you could just Google the answer? In this session, we’ll discuss the unique compliance challenges that the world of online advertising, social media, and social networking presents. Learn how to evaluate ads distributed on a virtual channel and best practices for online content. Chances are you’ll have work to do while attending our conference – let us help you stay on top of things! Description It’s time to apply what you learned the day before. We’ll break into small groups to review a variety of online ads in-depth: websites, landing pages, and email campaigns for compliance, documentation, and filing requirements. After each review, we’ll come together to discuss the issues found, proposed changes, and why. Targeted and personalized messaging is a huge part of online advertising. For qualified funds, this can pose some unique advertising challenges, as making a personalized recommendation can be the key trigger for when a sale must meet the DOL Fiduciary Rule requirements. We’ll talk through a process to review ads through a DOL Fiduciary Rule lens so your company and agents remain in control of when the content triggers any additional requirements. Likes, tweets, and hashtags – oh my! Once again we’ll break into small groups to work through a variety of advertisements for social media and social networking platforms. After each review, we’ll regroup to discuss the ads, the issues found, the decisions made, and why.
