2017 FIAF AWARD: Nomination Form Once a year, FIAF celebrates a well-known film personality (external to the FIAF archival world) whose experience in the field of cinema underlines the missions of the Federation, by presenting them with a FIAF Award. The FIAF Award recognizes in particular their dedication and contribution to the preservation of, and access to the world film heritage for the pleasure of today’s audiences, as well as for the benefit of future generations. Created in 2001, the FIAF Award has been presented to the following personalities so far: Martin Scorsese (2001), Manoel de Oliveira (2002), Ingmar Bergman (2003), Geraldine Chaplin (2004), Mike Leigh (2005), Hou Hsiao-hsien (2006), Peter Bogdanovich (2007), Nelson Pereira dos Santos (2008), Rithy Panh (2009), Liv Ullmann (2010), Kyoko Kagawa (2011), Agnès Varda (2013), Jan Švankmajer (2014), Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucchi (2015) and JeanPierre and Luc Dardenne (2016) during the last Congress in Bologna. The FIAF Executive Committee invites all colleagues in the FIAF community (i.e. any staff member of any FIAF-affiliated archive) to nominate a personality for the 2017 FIAF Award. The final selection will be made by the EC at its next meeting in November from all nominations received. Please fill in this 2017 FIAF Award nomination form and return it to the FIAF Secretariat by email ([email protected]), fax (+32 2 534 47 74) or post: FIAF, Rue Blanche 42, 1060 Brussels, Belgium, by 15 October 2016. Please make sure that your nomination meets the following criteria: - The Award is to be presented to a well-known film personality; - The Award recipient must be external to the FIAF Community; - The Award can only be presented to a personality who has demonstrated a clear commitment to at least some of the missions of the Federation; - The Executive Committee encourages geographically diverse nominations; - The ceremony during which the FIAF Award is presented must generate significant press coverage. It is therefore essential that it can take place during a key film event (a major film festival, a relevant FIAF Congress, etc). - Finally, at its last meeting the EC considered that FIAF could perhaps take the opportunity of the 2017 Congress being held in Los Angeles to reward a filmmaker from that part of the world. It will therefore be particularly receptive to such nominations.
