Dear Friend, Did you know that over 160,000 people will learn they have melanoma this year, an increase of more than 16,000 over last year? That’s more than the entire population of Springfield, MA. Imagine an entire city— mothers, fathers, children and friends—all diagnosed with the deadliest form of skin cancer. The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is leading the way to transform melanoma from one of the deadliest cancers to one of the most treatable through research, education and advocacy; and communities across the country are joining the MRF to fight this deadly disease. Last year, the nationwide Miles for Melanoma 5k Run/Walk series raised $1.5 million to support the MRF’s vision to create better outcomes for patients. Our events brought together 10,000 participants and 705 teams, including melanoma patients, survivors, doctors and caregivers young and old. Along with our national sponsors, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Novartis, 55 companies and healthcare providers offered their support at the local level. This year, we want to raise even more to help support melanoma patients.
