Mini Dribblers is an instructional program for kids in grades K-2 and is designed to introduce and teach the fundamentals of basketball in a unique, exciting and educational way. Setup is like the past summer minicamp. The hoops will be lowered to 8-ft. and there will be a combination of learning and games. This is the perfect program for kids just starting and learning to love the game and practice for Sunday league with Instructor: Coach Kyle.

TNBA Junior Dribblers (grades 3-6) Tuesdays 5-6 p.m.

Junior Dribblers is the next level after Mini Dribblers. All levels are welcome. This instructional program will help increase your skill level and confidence in shooting, ball handling, footwork, rebounding, defense and offense moves. School-Age Child Care is a state licensed program. Services are provided to children at The Lippman School, Revere Schools, Copley-Fairlawn, City Schools, Hillcrest and Akron Public Schools (King & Case Elementary Schools, Miller South & Litchfield). For students who attend the Judith A. Resnik CLC School, the Shaw JCC sponsors a school-age before-care and after-care program at the Resnik site. Students will go over the basics of theatre including stage directions, terminology, how to move on stage, etc. Students will showcase some of the exercises they did over the course of the class and will be present to parents, family and friends with what they learned and how they learned it. Ping Pong is a growing sport and the best of the best is here at the Shaw JCC. The professionals from the Samson Dubina Academy will begin with a series of warm-up exercises and training drill. Learn proper table tennis technique, footwork, service serve return and game strategy. Students may also participate at a discounted rate in the Samson Dubina Table Tennis league held Thursday evenings at the Shaw JCC

Youth Fit – Body Pump  Full-body interval training classes will include strength, mobility, stretch and core exercises.  Classes will challenge the students to climb, jump, push, lift and move in a playful-like workout that will help them build strength and become more agile for fun, sport and fitness.

Youth Cycling Indoor cycling classes that stimulate the feel of cycling in the great outdoors! Youth participants will experience the challenge of hills and flats using various sitting and standing positions. Indoor Cycling is for everyone at any fitness level and any age as long as they can reach the pedals safely.

Parents' Night Out Saturday, Sept. 16 Ages: 4-12

Everyone enjoys a Night Out! Parents, take a break and send your kids (ages 4-12) for a Saturday night out at the J. Offered once per month (Sept. through May) and supervised by our own KidSpace and Camp Staff. Children can look forward to fun crafts projects, cooking, sports and games. After a yummy pizza and veggie dinner, we will watch a great kids’ movie on our big screen. *Fee is based on minimum 24-hour registration. Add extra $5 without reservation (must be paid after sundown at pick-up time) Subject to change/cancellation with minimum enrollment.

Junior Cavs Basketball League Sundays Sept. 10-Oct. 29 Grades K-1: 1-1:50 p.m. Grades 1-2: 2-2:50 p.m. Grades 3-4: 3-3:50 p.m. Grades 5-6: 4-4:50 p.m.

The Shaw JCC is partnering with TNBA and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Junior Cavs program. Sunday league consists of two practices and eight games. Focus is on the fundamentals of basketball and healthy competition. Players receive a league shirt and free ticket to a Cavs game in addition to a reversible Cavs jersey, a Cavs game voucher for next season and a basketball trophy. (7 regulation games, 1 playoff) Cost: $120 M/$165 G

School’s Out (Grades K-8) A day off school means a day at the J! The School’s Out program offers fun and exciting experiences for children in grades K-8. Most days offer a field trip and/or special programming at the Shaw JCC. Many School’s Out programs include special activities such as sports, art, swimming and more. Open to members & guests. Cost: $42 M/$52 G *Fee is based on minimum 24hour reservation. Add extra $10 without reservation Pre-care (7-9 a.m.) $5 per day; Post-care (4-6 p.m.) $5 per day (post-care free if enrolled in KidSpace or Resnick aftercare services). Subject to change/cancellation with minimum enrollment.

Jewish High Holidays The High Holidays or High Holy Days, in Judaism, more properly known as the Yamim Noraim (“Days of Awe”), include the holidays of Rosh Hashanah (“Jewish New Year”) and Yom Kippur (“Day of Atonement”). Drop by the welcome desk at JCC on Wednesday, Sept. 20 and enjoy apples and honey to celebrate a sweet and happy New Year. In observance of the Jewish Holidays, the Shaw JCC will be closed on Sept. 21 & 22 and 30. L’Shana Tova, Happy New Year!
