Making his first career start, Page threw four touchdowns to lead Morehead State past Kentucky Christian, 56-14, Thursday. Playing less than three full quarters, he was nearly flawless in the outing, completing 21-of-23 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns. Page’s 243.7 pass efficiency rating was the second best among FCS passers in Week 1 and he was one of only 10 signal callers to finish with four or more touchdowns. He went 14-for-14 for 169 yards in the first half alone and completed his first 15 passes. Page also ran for 49 yards, his 333 offensive yards 11th most among FCS players in the week.

Olenga posted a FCS Week 1 best 4½ sacks to help Campbell down Methodist, 70-0, Thursday. The 4½ sacks (four solo stops) also were a school record and one was a strip sack, forcing a fumble that he also recovered. Olenga finished with 10 tackles (five solo) on the day and led a Camels defense that limited Methodist to 62 yards total offense.

Brooks returned a punt 54 yards for a touchdown as part of Campbell’s 70-0 victory against Methodist, Thursday. He had two 50plus yard returns to start the day. Brooks opened with a 53-yard return that set the Camels up at the Methodist 11-yard line. Later in the first quarter, he tacked on a 54yard return for a touchdown. His 150 total punt return yards were the most among FCS returners in Week 1 and his 28.2 yards per return was the fourth-best average in the FCS. Brooks was one of six FCS returners to score a touchdown in Week 1.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES IN WEEK 1 •

WESLEY DUGGER, RB (Davidson) – A freshman, Dugger posted the eighth-best rushing performance in Davidson history, fnishing with 196 rushing yards on 31 carries and scored a touchdown in the win against Brevard. It was the second-best rushing performance among FCS backs in Week 1 on the third most rushing attempts in the subdivision.



CHRIS DUNCAN, QB (Valpariaso) – Making his collegiate debut off the bench, Duncan became the first Valparaiso quarterback to lead the team in rushing since 2013 (Eric Hoffman). Through the air, he completed 8-of-14 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns as the Crusaders put a scare into Montana.



EVAN GIEBEL, P (Butler) – Giebel was a busy man in Week 1 for Butler, punting 11 times. But he was consistently good, averaging 41.8 yards per punt with his longest punt going for 46 yards. He placed three of those punts inside the 20-yard line.



DIMITRIOS LATSONAS, K (Valparaiso) – After attempting just two field goals all of 2016, Latsonas went 3-for-3 through the uprights at Montana, including a career-best 44-yard field goal. He was the first Valparaiso kicker to make three field goals in a game since 2008 and tacked on a pair of PATs to finish with 10 points.



KIM MAHONEY, LB (San Diego) – Mahoney led San Diego’s defense with 8 tackles, 1½ of those for a loss but also had a hand in two fumbles forced and recovered a fumble in the Toreros win against Western New Mexico.



ISSAK NEWHOUSE, DB (Butler) – Newhouse had a busy day, amassing a Butler-best 14 tackles in a loss to nationally-ranked Illinois State. He finished with 12 solo tackles and had a tackle for loss in the contest while also being credited with a fumble forced and a pass breakup.



BRYCE PERRY-MARTIN, DL (Davidson) – Perry-Martin racked up a FCS weekly best 5 tackles for loss, including a sack, to help Davidson hold Brevard to minus-four rushing yards in the game. He recorded 6 total tackles in the contest.



CAYSON WAKELEY, LB (Jacksonville) – Wakeley posted a PFL best 15 tackles in a Week 1 contest at Mercer. Eight of his stops were of the solo variety and he also had a sack and 1½ tackles for loss.



HUNTER WHITE, P (Drake) – In his first collegiate action, White averaged a PFL best 41.9 yards per punt on eight boots. He had a 52-yard long punt in the contest and placed one of his punts inside the 20-yard line.
