Details Page Submit 3 reference letters – one from your parent, another from your student ministry leader and another from a significant adult in your life. There will be 3 Events before SYC and each SLT member must be committed to participate in all 3 to be considered for the team. The first event is the SLT MEETING in February. This is an overnight planning retreat for SYC. We will select the SYC theme, speakers and bands for the next year. We will also provide leadership training and ministry assignments for you to complete in the months ahead. This event is tentatively scheduled for February 2017 and will be confirmed at SYC this year. We will meet at 6pm on a Friday night and finish at 6pm on Saturday night. You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the meeting. The state will cover the cost for food and hotel. The second event is the Student Leadership Institute (SLI) held each year in May. This is a Saturday only event for student leaders and adult leaders from around the state. This event will be hosted and put on by the Student Ministry Team and the Student Leadership Team. This year’s event is tentatively scheduled for May 6th, 2017. The third event is the SLT Meeting in September. This is the meeting we put the final details together for SYC and will be similar to the SLT Meeting in February. It will be an overnight meeting beginning on a Friday at 6pm and ending on Saturday at 6pm. Again, you will be responsible for your own transportation. The state will cover the cost for food and hotel. You must also be committed to leadership roles at the State Youth Convention, which include arriving at the convention on Thursday evening of the weekend of SYC. You will need to be at the convention on Thursday night at 6pm to help unload the semi-truck and tech equipment. This means that you will need to miss school on Friday. You also will also need to stay after SYC until roughly 6pm on Sunday night to reload the Semi-trailer. You will be responsible for your own transportation. Each church may nominate up to 2 student leaders for the SLT. The Student Leadership Team will consist of 7-9 members from various Church of God congregations around the state. In order to apply, each student leader must be nominated by their student ministry point leader. To do so, just give them this application. If accepted to the team, the student will be notified before SYC and be invited to a breakfast

Write out what you saw as the greatest strengths and the greatest weaknesses of the most recent SYC? Give at least 3 ideas for each.

As a student leader you will be expected to “set the example for others, in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity” (I Timothy 4:12), and you will be expected to live a life that is “above reproach” (I Timothy 3:2). Is there anything in your life that would be inappropriate for a student leader?

I understand the Student Leadership Team is a commitment of time and talent. I recognize that it is imperative that the student leaders fully support the major components of the Student Leadership Team (SLT). Please make note of the participation expectations below and initial your commitment to each one: _____ Faithful attendance and service in your local student ministry/church _____ Student Leadership Planning Meetings February (Friday night –Saturday night) September (Friday night –Saturday night) _____ Student Leadership Institute (Saturday in May) _____ State Youth Convention (Thursday night-Sunday night) _____ Miss School on the Friday of SYC Weekend _____ Provide Own Transportation to and from Meetings _____ Various Homework assignments between meetings
