BEST EVER Wa-Kon-Tah Camps

YMCA Camp Wa-Kon-Tah has hosted campers for over 60 years at our 26-acre Lake Springfield property. Campers spend their time between our campgrounds and the Downtown branch. Our campers will also go on a variety of age appropriate field trips. Campers are divided into age groups (listed below) and have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities throughout the summer. Monthly calendars with activities and events will be distributed and may be found on our camp website, campwakontah.org. Adventurers (Ages 5-6) Our young Adventurers are ready to take on the world in a supportive environment. Many of our young campers are embarking on their first summer camp experience. Campers will spend Mondays and Wednesdays at Camp Wa-Kon-Tah and Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Downtown branch. Campers will experience Field Trip Fridays, outdoor exploration, games, swim lessons and so much more. Explorers (Ages 7-12) Our Explorer campers are ready to experience the great outdoors, learn new skills, make friends and have fun! Campers will be busy exploring trails, building forts, playing group games, canoeing and getting creative during arts time. We keep our Explorers on the move at camp Wa-Kon-Tah, and on Fridays, we take a field trip! Leadership (Ages 13-15) Our teen campers are ready to take charge of their camp experience, navigate new experiences, make new friends and set and accomplish goals. Of course, they still love Camp Wa-Kon-Tah and all the outdoor activities. They are not little kids anymore, so we add extra challenges to their games and activities. Our future leaders will also complete a “camp legacy project” that they plan and execute as a team. Their projects will have an impact on Camp Wa-Kon-Tah for years to come.
