2017 Summer Youth Camps ArtXperience, Ages 10-15 Students will delve into creativity during this three-day long ArtXperience camp! Led by instructor Courtney Mealy, students will experience creativity through art and discover a new medium each day. Projects will include abstract wire sculptures, pet (or animal) portrait paintings and a mixed-media project that the participants will vote on! Students will learn the history of each art form and create their own masterpiece. $69 Monday-Wednesday, July 17 – July 19, 8:30 - 11 AM Room 604, Seneca Building X-Treme Science Camp, Ages 7-11 Students will participate in labs and activities dealing with many different areas of science. Campers will learn about plants, birds, stream life, water quality, chemistry, physical science and much more. We will also have guest presenters each day. Campers should bring their own snacks and drinks. $85 Monday - Wednesday, July 24 – 26, 8:30 AM – Noon Youth Writing Spectacular!! Ages 9-14 Room 162, Swarts Hall, Pitt-Bradford This creative writing camp is for young writers who Pot-Pot-Pottery!! Ages 10 - 16 Have fun working with clay. Learn hand building and coil construction. You will be able to glaze and fire your work and take home your completed projects. Pets ’n Vets Camp—I and II The Pets ’n Vets three-day program will include enjoyable, creative and instructional activities centered on children and their pets. Game Programming 101, Ages 10-16 Use JavaScript to learn video game programming the easy and fun way. Interact with Minecraft characters, create your own Flappy Bird game, join Anna and Elsa from Frozen in a quest, create digital art, and program Droids in Star Wars! Game Programming: Advanced Ages 14-18 This course is for students with previous programming, preferably game programming experience - if you have already dabbled, but want to push yourself to learn more and actually finish that game idea, this camp is for you. Learn about game mechanics and coding for common game scenarios, programs for game development and 3D modeling, building for different platforms (including VR), game testing, and publishing your game for the public to download. $69 Mon., Wed., Fri., July 10 - 14, 9:00 – Noon Swartz Hall, Room 236, Pitt-Bradford Campus Television Studio, Ages 10-16 Join Jeff Gutterman to learn how to create television news broadcasts, televised puppet shows and other types of programs in a real-life, multi-camera digital studio environment. You will learn about the roles both behind and in front of the camera. You will also learn how to perform and produce, direct, and serve as a studio production assistant.
