Scholarships Highlight of the Month Robert J. Miller Memorial Scholarship Amount: Two $500 awards Criteria: Involved in extracurricular activities and exemplify the characteristics of the six pillars: Courage, Integrity, Commitment, Citizenship, Patriotism, and Sacrifice. Deadline: March 21, 2018– Pick up an application from any Social Studies teacher Falcon Pride Scholarship Amount: Four $2,500 awards (renewable) Criteria: Preference given to students who have played football, boys volleyball, girls volleyball, or girls softball for at least three years, including senior year. 250-500 word essay required and a 2.5 GPA on the weighted 4.0 scale. Deadline: March 21, 2018– Pick-up application in the Counseling Center’s Scholarship File. Megan Bradshaw Memorial Scholarship Fund Amount: Three $3,000 awards Criteria: Integrity, academic seriousness, loyalty to friends, responsibility, industriousness, competitiveness, involvement in school activities, sincerity and honesty. Students should have an average, rather than excellent, academic record with a GPA of lower than 4.0 on the weighted 4.0 scale. Deadline: March 21, 2018- Pick-up application in the Counseling Center’s Scholarship File. Derek J. Hernandez “Forever 15” Lacrosse Player Scholarship Amount: $1000 Criteria: Senior Lacrosse players attending a 2 year or 4 year university. Also, must have at least a 3.0/4.0 GPA along with these other characteristics: leadership, school spirit, compassion, loyalty, sense of humor, humility, etc. Also, must not be receiving an athletic scholarship from any college/university Deadline: March 21, 2018– Pick-up application in the Counseling Center’s Scholarship File. WNHS Alumni Association “Boost” Scholarship Amount: $2,500 Criteria: Designed for someone who may not have always excelled, but has committed to the challenge of moving forward and may need a “boost”, financial or other reason, to continue their education at a 2 or 4-year college, or trade school. Deadline: March 22, 2018– Pick-up application in the Counseling Center’s Scholarship File.
