YARD WASTE 1. Place yard waste into brown paper bags and set curbside on recycling collection days 2. Vine, bush, and tree trimmings are limited to 4-foot lengths and must be tied into tight bundles and placed curbside
TRASH 1. Place in the trash only those items that will spoil or cannot be recycled 2. Close and tie trash bags, place bags in metal or heavy plastic cans, and secure with water-tight lids 3. Be sure each trash can and its contents weighs less than 50 pounds 4. Place trash cans curbside between 6pm the day before collection and 4am the day of collection 5. Remove trash cans from curb no later than 6pm on the day of collection
SPECIAL PICKUP For items exceeding 50 pounds or items unable to fit in trash cans, call the Public Works Call Center at 302.576.3878 to schedule a Special Pickup. Such items may include mattresses, furniture, appliances (refrigerator doors must be removed), rugs, clothes, and six or more bags of leaves or grass cuttings. Hazardous materials do not qualify for Special Pickup: tires, concrete, paint, building materials, household chemicals, oil tanks, and fuel containers. Bad Weather Note: From November 15 - March 15, sanitation workers do not make collections in bad weather. If your collection is canceled as a result, it will be made the following day if weather permits.
