Position: Grade 5 Homeroom Teacher – Math & Science FTE: 100% Full Time Exempt Reports to: Dean of Lower School Mission: With an uncompromising commitment to exceptional academics and universal Jewish values, we ignite a passion for learning that propels our students to become caring and engaged global citizens. We are currently seeking a new 5th Grade Teacher who is inspired by our mission and eager to master a variety of responsibilities. This teacher will partner with a second 5th grade homeroom teacher, and will be primarily responsible for developing and delivering the math and science curriculum. Essential Responsibilities: • Working in partnership with other grade level teachers in planning and teaching a challenging course of study in a developmentally appropriate manner, with an emphasis on differentiating instruction and using assessments effectively. • Engaging children in project based learning • Creating an inclusive homeroom environment through regular class meetings, supportive exchanges with students and clear expectations for community behavior. • Teaching Math and Science curriculum: Singapore Math, Making Math Real and science (including FOSS). • Creating a positive classroom environment in which students are supported and nurtured both academically and socially • Collaborating with teachers and specialists to provide a rich, integrated learning experience, including curriculum development, field trips and special projects • Working and communicating effectively with parents in formal and informal conferences, written reports and class newsletters. • Supporting and following the school policies • Being a positive and contributing member of the professional community. Qualifications • B.A. degree and teaching credential • At least three years of prior experience as a lead classroom teacher is preferred • Collaborative work ethic • Good sense of humor and warm demeanor Details: The school offers competitive compensation based on prior experience, education and position requirements.
