SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Automatic Gunfire
5 Prevention Act’’. 6
SEC. 2. PROHIBITION ON POSSESSION OF CERTAIN FIRE-

Chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, is amend-

(1) in section 922, by inserting after subsection

(u) the following:

‘‘(v)(1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), on and
4 after the date that is 180 days after the date of enactment 5 of this subsection, it shall be unlawful for any person to 6 import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or af7 fecting interstate or foreign commerce, a trigger crank, 8 a bump-fire device, or any part, combination of parts, 9 component, device, attachment, or accessory that is de10 signed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semi11 automatic rifle but not convert the semiautomatic rifle 12 into a machinegun. 13
‘‘(2) This subsection does not apply with respect to
14 the importation for, manufacture for, sale to, transfer to, 15 or possession by or under the authority of, the United 16 States or any department or agency thereof or a State, 17 or a department, agency, or political subdivision thereof.’’; 18 and 19 20
(2) in section 924(a)(2), by striking ‘‘, or (o)’’ and inserting ‘‘(o), or (v)’’.
