A Guide for Students Can I vote? To vote, you must be: • 18 years or older on election day; and • a Canadian citizen; and • a resident of Ontario.

Am I registered to vote? Check if you are registered to vote in Ontario at elections.on.ca You can add/update your registration to vote at elections.on.ca As a registered voter, you will receive a Voter Information Card (VIC) in the mail before an election that tells you when and where to vote.

Which address do I use to register and vote? If you live in two places - one while attending school, and another while not in school - you must choose which address you consider home and use this address to register to vote. This will determine where you cast your ballot.

When and where can I vote? You can vote in a general election or a by-election in your home electoral district. If you are registered and your registration is up-to-date, you will receive a Voter Information Card letting you know when and where to vote.

What if I’m under 18? Any 16 or 17 year old who is a Canadian citizen and lives in Ontario can sign up to be on the Ontario Register of Future Voters. Once you have registered, you will automatically be moved to the Voters List when you turn 18. Get on the register early and be ready to vote! Register at elections.on.ca/futurevoters
