A ‘Letter to Remember’ from a daughter to her mother who has Alzheimer’s Dear Mum, That is the hardest thing in the world to write knowing you'll never read this. You used to love getting my letters/cards/postcards that always started 'Dear Mum ...', and I treasure the drawer full of your replies I have ending 'Love, Mum'. You are still with us but not really. You still smile at us but it's a confused smile. I hate this illness for taking you away from us. I hate that I have to visit you somewhere and never know what to expect. I am grateful to have had you as my mum for so long. I am grateful that you got to meet my beautiful babies and were the fun loving granny you always wanted to be. I promise to remember the years you spent being the best mum in the world. I promise to remember you as my best friend, holiday companion, shoulder to cry on and biggest supporter. I promise to try to forget the bad days of this godawful illness. I hope I can be as good a mum as you have been. I love you forever. M xxx
