A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD This week has been a very busy week with our Year 6 children attending their Year 7 taster days at respective secondary schools. We have also had our Step Up morning where the children have spent time with their new class teacher for September. Today you will receive your child’s report with the results of any assessments taken this year. I am pleased to inform you Kentmere have once again excelled themselves beating national averages in nearly all areas. It is a pleasure to be the Head of such an outstanding school, working with your children who really are a credit to you. With the final two weeks of terms upon us there are many celebrations to come. Please do join us for as much as you possibly can. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support this year in making Kentmere the school it is. Sarah Isberg Headteacher

The News! Parent Information

Attendance Update Well done to those families who have ensured that their children come to school every school day. It is crucial that your child attends school, every day.

PE Kit

It is a common recurrence that children do not have their PE kits available in school for their lessons.  PE is part of the curriculum and we are asking all parents to ensure pupils have their kits in school.  Thank you.

Glasses

We would appreciate your co-operation in ensuring that, if required, your child brings their glasses to school every day.  SCHOOL SHOES Please wear black shoes, no boots or trainers. EARRINGS It is the school policy that children are not allowed to wear earrings during the school day for Health & Safety reasons.

The Final Newsletter This will be our last newsletter for this academic year and we would like to wish you a lovely Summer and look forward to children returning to school on WEDNESDAY 6th September. A fond farewell to all our year 6 pupils we would like to take this opportunity to wish them well in their new schools. Breakfast Club Reminder Parents must drop their child off at the entrance door not the gate. They must escort their child to the breakfast club line. Thank you for co-operation.

The News! School Eco News Parent Workshops Remember to check your child’s bag for any letters that are sent home. We have had some very positive feedback from our parent workshops and we would not want you to miss out on any future events.

Eco council have had a very successful year and have almost achieved the Eco schools Silver award. The children have had some great ideas, worked very hard and the school grounds are gradually becoming more developed. We have planted fruit trees, small shrubs, fruits and vegetables and will continue to develop our planting next school year. Many thanks to the Eco-councillors who have been fantastic this year.

ECO TIP NUMBER 7 Not only are they more durable (one cloth napkin will make it through a lot more BBQ sauce than a paper one!) but ditching disposable napkins will also save plenty of money over the years. It’ll also reduce your trash output, which means less energy is used transporting and processing your waste. Using recyclable paper napkins is good for the planet, but it’s even better to not have anything to recycle in the first place. Plus, cloth napkins make dinner feel oh-so-fancy.

Living Things and Habitats In our Science lessons, Year 3/4 VHS/TC have been learning about living things and their habitats. As part of this we completed an investigation to see which habitat a snail preferred. We placed soil, leaves, water and stones in different corners of a tray, put a snail in the middle of the tray and waited patiently to see which habitat the snail chose. Surprisingly, the snail chose the habitat water which led us to the conclusion that these were fresh water snails.
