We are thrilled to announce the launch of the new look Breaking Free Online!

A fresh new look and feel Service users, peer mentors and practitioners who create new Breaking Free Online accounts from 5th May 2015 will find our treatment and recovery programme has been given a totally fresh look and feel! We’ve included some screen shots in this newsletter to give you some idea of this exciting visual refresh.

Nothing has changed from the way you and your service users currently log in to your accounts, work through strategies, or access your personalised recovery toolkits. But we’ve improved the entire Breaking Free experience by making every element – from the assessment and home screen through to the strategies and printed recovery resources – clearer, more engaging and better to use. All these improvements have been made in direct response to your feedback as we continue to pioneer technology-enhanced recovery. Importantly, service users will still benefit from a totally personalised experience. The programme caters to all learning styles: reading, listening to audio or watching videos (which are all now HD). Indeed, personalisation is at the heart of the new Breaking Free experience. Service users can select different colour themes, add email addresses of supporters, and instantly generate a detailed progress report with an attractive new certificate. We’ve also introduced a new ‘Tour’ facility which guides service users through certain elements of the programme in a step-by-step way that they can navigate at their own pace.

Designed for use on PCs and tablets Now everyone can benefit from using powerful coping strategies anytime and anywhere! Recently, one of your most frequent suggestions on how we could improve Breaking Free Online was to make it usable on iPads and other tablet computers. So we’re delighted to announce that the new version of the programme has been optimised to work on any tablet with a screen size of 7 inches or above.

Staying Free mobile app: relapse prevention toolkit The long-awaited ‘Staying Free’ mobile app is finally here! We’ve been testing and refining this brand new app since the turn of the year and are now very excited to launch it to services. The app works on Android and Apple phones, and is designed to be used alongside Breaking Free Online. It offers service users an additional relapse prevention toolkit that they can carry around with them. They can download the app to their phone from Google Play or App Store

(by searching for ‘Staying Free’), and then access it simply by using their Breaking Free username and password. The app uses the latest mobile technology to support service users in achieving and sustaining abstinence. It allows them to create a personalised digital flashcard to increase their motivation, and to surf their cravings and urges. And for the first time, they can now use the power of GPS to help them manage high risk situations, truly bringing ‘Seemingly Irrelevant Decisions’ (SIDs) into the 21st century!

Upgraded outcomes dashboard To go with the stylish visual refresh we’ve applied to the Breaking Free Online programme, we’ve also upgraded the supporting outcomes dashboard. Crucially, however, we’ve ensured that all existing data and statistics on usage and impact will transfer automatically from the old dashboards to the new ones.

If you’re unsure about how to access your own service’s dashboard, or you no longer have your login details to hand, please get in touch with our customer service team and we’ll get you set up right away.

New access cards and leaflets For the launch of the new version of Breaking Free Online, we will be distributing to all services our new look access cards and

However, please note that any access cards you currently have in your services will remain valid, and will work for the new version of Breaking Free Online and the app.
