This drive only supports 1X discs

Pioneer DVD+/-RW DVR 109 Firmware 1.58 sometimes locks the drive when writing a DVD disc at 12X – 16X. This is not a problem with Adobe Premiere Pro but a bug with their firmware. Older firmware allows 12X writes with no issues; however, 16X writes are disabled. Pioneer DVR-108 Firmware 1.08 will cause Adobe and third-party apps to report “disc is not writable” or “insert disc” when you have no disc in the drive to have placed the proper media. Ejecting and reinserting a few times will cause it to start working. This is fixed in the new firmware. Sony DW-D22A Tests with default presets were successful. Issues with customized presets gave error messages near completion of the disc.

Canon Optura Pi Frames are occasionally dropped during capture, and recording to tape at a specific timecode (assembling) may fail. Canon DM-GL1A Occasionally, export to tape will fail if a target timecode is specified (assemble editing). Canon XL2A This device uses true progressive-scan high-resolution CCDs. In 16:9 mode, the portion of the CCD that is used to create the frame is wider than that used to create a 4:3 frame, thus it contains more data. (Note that the resulting 960x480 frame is recorded on tape anamorphically as 720x480 as in any other 16:9 DV format.) Tapes recorded in this device’s 24P modes will be captured as 24P regardless of project settings and regardless of which device is used to capture the tape. Clips captured from such a tape cannot effectively be used in a 29.97fps project. The timecode of captured clips is always displayed in the timecode format of the current project. Tapes recorded in this device’s 24P modes (which use 30fps nondrop timecode) will be displayed as 24fps timecode in a 24P project unless the timecode format of the project is switched to “30fps Non Drop-Frame” in the General panel of the Project Settings dialog box. If a tape is recorded in this device’s 24P modes and the source material contains very bright or overexposed detail (such as a snowy mountaintop), playback may exhibit a “strobing” effect, wherein the dynamic range of every fifth frame is compressed to DV-legal values. To eliminate the strobing effect, lower the brightness level of the affected portions of the video. Adjust the Luma Max value in the Video Limiter portion of the Color Corrector while viewing the affected video in the YC Waveform Monitor. Adjust it until the entire affected portion of the video does not exceed 100 IRE. JVC GR-DV500U After capturing from tape without using device control, subsequent captures directly from the lens cannot take place until the Capture window is closed and reopened. JVC GR-HD1 This device does not send video over IEEE 1394 when in Camera mode. Record to tape first, and then capture.

Panasonic AG-DV2500P If the Step Forward/Back buttons require two presses to change the frame, go to the device’s SYSTEM menu and set STILL MODE to FRAME, 1st, or 2nd. To prevent this device from going to sleep when idle, go to the device’s SYSTEM menu and set PAUSE PROTECT to F. ADV and set the STILL TIMER to 5MIN. This device will record tapes with discontinuous timecode if it is set to duplicate incoming timecode. To prevent this, go to the device’s TIME CODE menu and set DV TC DUP to OFF. Panasonic PV-DV910 After clicking the Stop button when the device is paused, the Capture window image may become garbled. Panasonic AG-EZ30P Seeking to a specific timecode is occasionally inaccurate, particularly near the beginning of the tape. This can affect batch capture, causing the first clip’s capture to fail. Adobe Premiere Pro may freeze after playing a clip while this device is in Camera mode. Panasonic NV-GX7 Capturing material that was recorded to tape from Adobe Premiere Pro using this device may result in a clip with no audio. Panasonic PV-DV102D Timecode may not be displayed correctly after pressing Stop under certain circumstances, such as when stopping paused playback. Panasonic PV-DV600D After rewinding and then stopping, the image in the Capture window may be distorted. Begin playback before beginning capture. Panasonic AG-DVX100A Material captured in this device’s 24p modes uses 30fps nondrop timecode on the tape. By default, Adobe Premire Pro displays clips using timecode that matches the media’s frame rate, so Adobe Premiere Pro may show the timecode for these clips at

24fps. This can be controlled by selecting “Timecode Displayed in Source Framerate” in Preferences/Media. Sony DCR-TRV18 Buttons in the Capture window may appear to intermittently depress, but this issue does not affect the functionality. Sony DCR-TRV8 If the device loses power during batch capture, Adobe Premiere Pro must be restarted to reconnect to the device. Sony DCR-TRV22 Skipping to the next scene may not work properly if the next scene is within a few frames. Sony DCR-TRV70K Export to tape at a specific timecode (assembling) may be inaccurate by as many as 14 frames.

Canon DM-XL1 This device supports Frame Movie Mode, which is similar to progressive scan. It does not have a true progressive-scan CCD, and Frame Movie Mode is recorded to tape exactly the same way as normal video. Canon DM-GL1A Batch capture is unreliable, occasionally missing a frame or two from the end. Capture using handles. Assemble editing may be unreliable, as the target timecode may be missed by many frames. Panasonic AG-DV2000P Assemble editing in unreliable. Edit mode must be set to Passive, with the Edit Control dial set to DV, and the Input Select set to DV In. If the Step control requires two presses to advance or back up by a full frame, then use the “Alternate 1” profile in the Device Control Options dialog box. Sony GV-D900 Assemble editing may be unreliable. Experiment with Movie Start Delay for best results when assemble editing. A camera option is available, but using it prevents the i.Link port from working.

Sony DCR-PC100E Export to Tape has a tough time finding the specified Assemble at Timecode value, and it will often get hung on paused frame.

Sony SDR-PD150P For DV output to work when analog video (S-Video or composite) is connected to the camera, the “A/V -> DV Out” menu item must be set to “Off”. Sony DCR-PC2E This device only supports DV output, so no playback, preview, or export-to-tape features are supported. All capture and device control functions work correctly.
