The IP CLIM provides a variety of attributes to configure network resources (such as interfaces, addresses, routes, sysctl) and options to control network traffic. This session details the different failover configurations to maximize availability of network resources and the various options for the recently released CLIM iptables feature. Configuring network routing on a multi-homed system connected to multiple disjoint networks requires careful planning and in-depth knowledge of the network reach ability. A well connected NonStop system will have multiple network providers, multiple CLIMs per provider, and multiple network interfaces per CLIM. This session provides a close look at the different routing configurations for IP CLIMs and available tools for debugging CLIM issues. A new feature on CLIMs provides the capability to configure multiple providers on CLIM. This allows customers to configure logically independent network partitions (or LNPs) on a single CLIM. This talk will provide a high level overview of how this feature is useful, how it is configured, and an overview of some newer Linux features that have enabled this capability.

Many NonStop customers have a need for faster transactions and increased transaction rates. Earlier this year, HP NonStop introduced direct attached Solid State Drives (SSDs) and disk partitioning. On NonStop platforms, SSDs are a disruptive technology that can provide significantly faster transaction response time and higher transaction throughput than Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), with the potential to significantly improve application performance. The NonStop SSDs are high endurance enterprise storage devices that store data in flash memory. Unlike HDDs, SSDs don’t have mechanical or moving parts, making them faster and providing high reliability.

This session covers a structured approach for migrating Oracle databases to NonStop SQL/MX. Learn about aspects of the most valuable area of migration - automated and customized conversion of Database schema objects, Server-side business logic, SQL queries, scripts and data with the help from HP consultants and a partner tool called SQLWays. NonStop SQL/MX security is based on the ANSI standard GRANT/REVOKE model, but also benefits in many ways from the underlying NonStop OS and Safeguard security model. Come to this session to see how the pieces work together and learn about recent NonStop SQL/MX security enhancements. This session will cover the basics of the clustering service now offered in Pathway. This service allows 100% application availability but can also be used to apply business policy (only start things under certain conditions) through use of the ‘weight factor’. With 2.5 the clustering services can now span systems which can provide for individual system loads without application downtime.

The state of Application Modernization on HP NonStop Multi-Vendor Session and Panel Discussion
Gregg Bromm, Brad Poole, Ernie Guerrera
NonStop systems have always excelled in their serviceability characteristics. As a matter of fact, excellent serviceability is one of the major factor in low TCO of NonStop systems. With the introduction of NonStop BladeSystems and CLIMs, NonStop systems can take advantage of the standard serviceability features of leveraged HP hardware. In addition, HP has been investing continuously in enhancing NonStop serviceability. This session describes recent serviceability enhancements (such as, CLIM replacement guided procedure, down-system CLIM firmware update tool, DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard, and monitoring of NonStop maintenance LAN services), and provides a glimpse of even more upcoming serviceability enhancements (such as, double chip sparing). Application modernization has been an important theme for HP NonStop systems for several years now and there are numerous success stories of those who have capitalized on their NonStop investment. Today there is a broad set of tools provided by many of the solution providers designed specifically to enable rapid development of modern clients for your existing NonStop applications. In this session, experts from ACI, comForte, HP, NuWave, and TIC have teamed up to provide you with an overview of the solutions which are available today to make application modernization a reality for you too. We will conclude the session with a panel discussion where you will have the opportunity to ask questions of the team.

HP IT Performance Suite Support for NonStop
Vinay Gupta
The HP NonStop Software Essentials product is the next-generation software installation and management tool for NonStop systems. NonStop Software Essentials uses the DSM/SCM server, and is a complete functional replacement for the DSM/SCM Planner Interface. It is more secure, easier to use, and overcomes other shortcomings of DSM/SCM. This session will provide an overview of the product, along with information about the architecture, benefits, and usage. It will compare the Planner Interface functionality to similar and improved functionality in Software Essentials, and cover capabilities beyond those in the Planner Interface. Since DSM/ SCM Planner Interface will not be supported on 64-bit Windows platforms (including Windows Server 2008-based NonStop System Consoles), migration to NonStop Software Essentials is required for all customers going forward. Attend this session to see how you can migrate to NonStop Software Essentials easily and can take advantage of its benefits. The HP IT Performance Suite is the foundation for the CIO’s and IT leadership team’s performance system. The Suite features a cascaded optimization system, the industry’s deepest and broadest insight into IT-controlled assets and a secure, comprehensive, operational environment for a hybrid world. It is an integrated portfolio of products and services to create IT management solutions (formerly HP Business Technology Optimization, or BTO), Information Management solutions, Business Intelligence solutions and Security Intelligence and Risk Management solutions. NonStop is supported by many products and services in HP IT Performance Suite. If your organization uses HP IT Performance Suite to manage infrastructure and business services on other platforms, or if you are trying to consolidate and efficiently manage your data center infrastructure and business services, attend this session to learn how you can integrate NonStop in your data center management environment using HP IT Performance Suite.

XYGATE Merged Audit, You Have It, Do You Use It?
Rob Lesan
This session presents an in-depth tour of HP NonStop SQL DDL Replicator(SDR), including its relationships to NonStop SQL/MP, TMF, and RDF. SDR captures all SQL/MP DDL statements in the TMF audit trail and, in coordination with RDF, replicates them on RDF backup systems. The session will also discuss recent improvements in RDF that have resulted in greatly improved performance of SQL DDL replication. Choices, so many choices... Your Safeguard configuration choices can have huge effects on your system security, and on your next encounter with an auditor. This session will be highly interactive, so bring along your top recommendations on how to configure Safeguard – or not – to share. Didn’t realize you already had a great way to combine EMS, Safeguard, Base24 and other logging audit sources into a single, easily queried, simple to manage, SIEM interfacing central logging facility for your NonStop servers? You aren’t the only one. HP has been including the XYGATE Merged Audit product with all new NonStop servers since 2010. The XYGATE Merged Audit and Event Monitoring module (XMA) manages all your NonStop audit sources and intelligently merges them together into a single database. XMA’s flexibility allows you to get the information you need, when you need it. From filtering out extraneous data to alerting and securing the data you do need, XMA supports audit feeds from Safeguard, BASE24, EMS, and more. It can also easily interface to SIEM solutions, and reporting and intrusion detection technologies with minimal effort. Now learn how to put it to use in your enterprise in this presentation covering how it works, what it collects, and how it manages it all for you. We will also cover how it can help with PCI compliance, configuration, tips and tricks, and how it integrates with the rest of the enterprise.
