Kathy Cicora - NeuroPace was founded to design, develop, manufacture and market implantable devices for the treatment of neurological disorders by responsive brain stimulation. In Nov 2013, the FDA granted pre-market approval for the Neuropace® RNS System® to treat medically refractory epilepsy. Kristin Henry, PharmD joined the Marshfield Clinic in 2012. Her areas of expertise include medication counseling for epilepsy patients and review of new anti-epileptic drugs. Bruce P. Hermann, PhD, is Professor of Neurology and director of the Matthews Neuropsychology Lab -UW School of Medicine/Public Health. His medical interests are epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease and memory disorders. His research focus is the nature and progression of abnormalities in cognition, behavior and brain structure in adults and children with epilepsy. Evan Sandok, MD has been with the Marshfield Clinic for 15 years and is the director of Neurophysiology and Epilepsy. He did his training at Mayo Clinic . He is actively involved with the Epilepsy Foundation Heart of WI as a member of the professional advisory board and chairman of the “Advances in Epilepsy Treatment” conference for the past 14 years. Justin Schoen, MD joined the staff of Marshfield Clinic in 2008. He earned his Medical Degree from Michigan State University and completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin. An interest area for Dr. Schoen is neuromodulation, which is being studied for usefulness in treating neurological disorders including epilepsy. Mary Ellen Walter, PharmD joined the Marshfield Clinic in 2009 as a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. She is frequently consulted for drug-therapy management of epilepsy patients. Elaine Wirrell, MD practices at the Mayo Clinic Departments of Neurology and Pediatric/Adolescent Medicine. With a focus on pediatric epilepsy, Dr. Wirrell has done research related to the effectiveness of epilepsy surgery, autoimmune epilepsies and the relationship between gene mutations and the diagnosis of epilepsy.
