Counselling and psychotherapy

Good Neighbours Befriending Scheme

If you’re over 55 and registered with a Camden GP, you can use our service to talk through any emotional issues or concerns in a confidential and non judgemental way.

Our Good Neighbours Scheme offers befriending and companionship. We’ll match you with a trained and checked volunteer who will visit you on a regular basis. If you are isolated, housebound or living with a disability, you will be prioritised for this service.

Your counsellor will not give you advice or tell you what to do, but will work with you to make changes and develop a greater understanding of yourself and your life. If you’re housebound we can visit you at home. Our service can help if you have early stage dementia. Group therapy is also available. 020 7239 0400 [email protected] Dementia Wellbeing and Befriending Living with dementia can bring many challenges. Age UK Camden is a specialist in dementia care and we have a range of services to help you. We can also support partners, carers and friends. Dementia Wellbeing Our Wellbeing team can work with you on a one to one basis if you have memory impairment or dementia. Over six months we can help you create a personal plan to improve your health and wellbeing and connect you with other support available in Camden. Dementia Befriending If you’re an older person with dementia or memory impairment, befrienders can visit you at home or join you in activities you enjoy doing outside. Befrienders are trained and DBS (criminal record) checked and we aim to match you with a befriender that you’ll have something in common with. 020 7239 0400 [email protected] [email protected] Direct payment support Direct payments are payments from the council that give you more flexibility and control in arranging your own social care services. If you’re eligible, we can explain how the scheme works, help you complete the application form and help you with managing your care package. We can also offer support with payroll, recruiting carers and general advice. You’ll be invited to regular user meetings where you can discuss any issues or concerns and we can also put you in touch with existing users. 020 7239 0443 [email protected]
