Job Description Artist in Marketplace (AIM) Manager The Bronx Museum of the Arts Bronx, New York The Bronx Museum of the Arts (BxMA) is a contemporary art museum, founded in 1971 to serve the culturally diverse populations of the Bronx and the greater New York metropolitan area. The Museum has a long-standing commitment to increasing and stimulating audience participation in the visual arts through its Permanent collection, special exhibition, and education programs. The Artist in Marketplace (AIM) Manager reports to the Director of Programs and provides logistical support to ensure the implementation of the programmatic, administrative, and logistical/evaluation objectives of the Artist in the Marketplace program, at both the Bronx Museum and an offsite location in downtown Manhattan. Responsibilities may include: AIM Program • Oversees the overall budget for the Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) program, as well as the coordination of annual recruitment and selection process. • Coordinates the annual schedule for the two AIM terms (spring and fall); confirms through written contract all session presenters. • Assists in the planning and coordination of professional development component of the AIM program, including documenting sessions, corresponding with guest instructors, maintains artist contacts. AIM Biennial • In collaboration with guest curators, coordinates the AIM Biennial including all aspects of the exhibition and catalog production, as well coordinating with the Bronx Museum marketing team to discuss strategies for outreach. AIM Alumni Residencies • Coordinates application and selection process of AIM alumni for studio spaces at downtown Manhattan location. • Oversees the schedule and coordination of selected alumni residents in the studio spaces. AIM Programming • Oversees the scheduling, production, and implementation of all public programs at downtown Manhattan space for both new accepted AIM participants and alumni. These include: “Monthly Mix,” slide shows, exhibitions, and dinners. Administrative Tasks • Assists in all aspects of AIM administration, including maintaining exhibition/production schedules, departmental files, responding to routine correspondence, e.g. artist inquiries, incoming exhibition tour proposals, purchase orders and check requests. • Helps with recruiting, supervising, and evaluating department interns.

Qualifications and Experience: • • • • • • • • • • • •

Minimum of a B.A. or B.S with Master’s degree in arts administration or humanities preferred from an accredited university Experience working with a Museum or other visual arts institutions Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle constant and frequent shifts in priorities Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work effectively with groups and individuals representing a wide variety of needs, abilities, interests and socio-economic backgrounds as well as varied educational and experiential perspectives Ability to foster engaging group dynamics Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines Attention to detail with ability of not losing sight of big picture Strong proficiency working in Google docs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook--must be computer savvy Solid knowledge of art organizations and their programming preferred Bilingual candidates proficient in both English and Spanish preferred
