artnerships of many types have made Anderson Parks enjoyable places for residents of all ages to get out and get active. Since 1991, the Anderson Foundation for Parks and Recreation (“Foundation for Parks”) has provided funding for play features adults and children can enjoy during their visits to the Anderson Parks. As a 501(c)(3) organization, it serves as the fundraising arm of the Anderson Parks, with a mission to make a direct and positive impact on the community by perpetuating parks and recreation through philanthropy, volunteer engagement and advocacy. Recent additions to the Anderson Parks because of financial support from the Foundation for Parks include: new picnic pods, renovated basketball court, and family swings at Juilfs Park (with generous assistance from the Juilfs Foundation and Robert W. Dorsey, in memory of Anne Grieme Dorsey); the Pickleball Courts at Clear Creek Park; and playground improvements at Beech Acres, Juilfs, Laverty, and Veterans parks.

SUMMER 2018 | AndersonParks.com

A new project the Anderson Park District is planning, for which the Foundation for Parks is fundraising, is an Outdoor Classroom at W. M. Johnson Hills Park. This experiential learning space will help connect park visitors with nature through active and passive activities. To learn more about the Outdoor Classroom project, visit: FoundationforParks.org/projects or contact Ken Kushner, Executive Director, (513) 388-2492 or [email protected]. We are grateful to the Anderson Foundation for Parks and Recreation for its support of projects to extend the limited resources of the Anderson Park District. We invite you to come out to one of our many events in this Park Guide this summer. Or if a quieter experience is your thing, pack your picnic basket and try out one of the new picnic pods or one of the family swings at Juilfs Park. There is a space for everyone to play, gather, and grow in an Anderson Park near you.

In the spirit of summer, we want to reintroduce the board of the Anderson Foundation for Parks and Recreation. We are here to help facilitate your parks and recreational spaces. Yet, to honor Anderson with plentiful, vibrant, and diverse public spaces we need your help! Whether it is through volunteer labor, financial donation or professional acumen, we welcome your contribution. We are taking sponsorship reservations for the 2018 Greater Anderson Days, our signature event featuring all that Anderson has to offer. To business owners who want to stand out in our community, do not miss a chance to get your business in front of nearly 100,000 people this summer! Check us out at www.foundationforparks.org.
