Announcing a new Photo Contest from the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse The Playhouse is about to embark on an exterior painting project, and we are inviting YOU to help us document the process in an original, compelling, and artful way. Over the course of the following two months, we invite all amateur photographers to visit the Playhouse and take photos of the “before,” “during” and “after” phases of the exterior painting project. Photos can be of any portion of the exterior of the Playhouse. Photographers will NOT have any access to the interior of the Playhouse, and must be respectful of painting crew onsite during the project (no climbing on ladders, lifts, or scaffolding, etc.). Note that due to the nature and scope of this painting project, we cannot pin down exact dates for the various phases, but we anticipate the following: February 7th – 14th “before”; February 14th – 28th “during”; February 29th - March 31st “after.” The Photo Contest is sponsored by the City of San Gabriel. This Photo Contest is in no way sponsored by, endorsed by, administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

You may enter one (1) photo entry per category (maximum 3 entries).
Submission Deadline: April 1st, 2018

with photograph as a JPEG attachment (300 DPI), or include a link to dropbox or google drive.
Entries must be accompanied by photographer’s name, address, telephone number, email address, contest category, and photo title (optional). Trustees, Board Members, Employees, interns, or partners of The San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of employees, are not eligible to enter.
Photo must depict the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, and taken sometime between February 7 th and March 31st, 2018.
All photographers must sign and submit the waiver form below with their email entry.
If people are included in the photograph, photographers must obtain signed releases from the individuals depicted and must be able to provide copies of those releases to the Playhouse upon request.
The photographs must be your own original creations. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any photograph(s) submitted. Your submission of each photograph is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of such photograph.
By entering, you also warrant that the image does not violate or infringe upon the copyright, trademark, rights of publicity, privacy, or any other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.
All photographs become the property of the City of San Gabriel. By virtue of their entry, contestants agree that the City of San Gabriel may adapt, edit, and/or modify their photographs in any way and may also publish or otherwise use their photographs for promotional or other purposes without your prior approval or inspection and without compensation, right to royalties, or any other compensation. You also agree to
fully and forever release, discharge, indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the City of San Gabriel from any and all claims arising out of participation in the Photo Contest and the publication or use of the photograph as described in these rules. You waive the right to claim any attorneys’ fees and any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. Whenever possible, in publications of the photo, appropriate photo credit with the caption “Person’s Name” will be given.
By entering, entrants unconditionally agree to all the contest rules and to the decisions made by the judges. Judges’ decisions are final. Voting/Judging: There will be two winners chosen by “Popular Vote” from each category and two winners chosen by a “Panel of Judges” from each category. The “Popular Vote” will be via Facebook page voting, beginning at 12:00 AM on April 4th, 2018 (simply “like” or “love” your favorites) and ends at 11:59 PM on May 1st, 2018. “Popular Voting” can also be done by ballot in the Playhouse lobby on April 22nd, 2018, 2:00pm to 5:00pm (before and after) at the screening of The Cameraman starring Buster Keaton. “Popular Vote” winners will be the two photographs that receive the most votes (Facebook “like” or “love,” and paper ballet votes cast on April 22) in each category. All contestants will receive one (1) complimentary ticket to see the screening of The Cameraman starring Buster Keaton with live Wurlitzer organ for April 22nd, 2018 at 2:30pm. Tickets for contestants will be held in their name, at the “Will Call” Box Office window at 2:00pm on the day of the screening (you must show valid ID to pick up your ticket). Announcement of Winners: Winners will be publicized on all Playhouse social media outlets, as well as featured on the Playhouse website. First place winners of the “Popular Vote” and “Panel of Judges” will receive a subscription for two tickets to the 2018/19 Silent Sundays film series. Winners will be notified by email or telephone by May 4th, 2018. Winners Reception: A reception to display the winning photos, and celebrate the contest will take place at the Playhouse, in the Glass Room, at a summer date to be determined.
