Freshman Scholarship Information To be considered for scholarships at Ohio University, you must apply for admission and be admitted by February 1, 2012. Scholarship decisions will be based on academic record (class rank, g.p.a., ACT/SAT) results on file as of March 1, 2012. No new academic information can be used for consideration after this date. Honors Tutorial College mentoring, and heightened intellectual development. Success in tutorial education also requires a high degree of maturity, selfmotivation, curiosity, and mental energy. In judging whether a tutorial education is the right path for you, please take a moment to read through the document titled “Something Completely Different: An Honors Tutorial College Undergraduate Education” available online at www.ohio.edu/honors on the ‘About HTC’ tab. The College is highly selective, typically enrolling only 60 students each year across all of its programs of study.

The Honors Tutorial College offers a nationally distinctive undergraduate education based on the British tutorial model developed at Oxford and Cambridge universities. Tutorials consist of courses taught either one-on-one with a student and a professor or a very small seminar consisting of several Honors Tutorial College students and a professor. In general, Honors Tutorial College students take one tutorial per academic semester along with a mix of traditional courses. An education grounded in this approach provides for exceptional faculty contact, substantial

Honors Tutorial College Application Process The application deadline for the Honors Tutorial College is December 1, 2011. Honors Tutorial College applicants should complete both the standard Ohio University application form on pages 5-9, and the Honors Tutorial College application supplement on page 10. Ohio University Honors Tutorial College 35 Park Place 1 Ohio University Athens OH 45701 Complete applications received by December 1 will be reviewed by HTC to determine whether the application will be forwarded to the Director(s) of Studies (faculty members responsible for administering each program of study) for further review. After December 1, 2011, Directors of Studies will select candidates for required on-campus interviews. Interview invitations will be mailed in late December. Because of the nature of a tutorial-education, an on-campus interview with Director(s) of Studies and faculty tutors is required. There will be two interview days in January 2012: January 7 and January 14. Applicants will be assigned an interview date. Applicants interviewing in music or performance theater will audition on Interview Day. After interviews are completed, offers of admission will be sent to selected applicants during the first week of February. Interviewees who are not offered admission to an HTC program will automatically be reviewed for admission to the appropriate college.

Mail both sections of the form, along with two letters of recommendation and any required additional material (see below for programs of study requiring additional application materials) directly to HTC, 35 Park Place, 1 Ohio University, Athens OH 45701. Although the standard Ohio University application only allows application to one program, Honors Tutorial College applicants may apply for up to three programs of study. Note: Only apply for a program if you are seriously interested in pursuing that field of study. Applying for more than one program does not increase your chances of being accepted into the Honors Tutorial College. Honors Tutorial College does not offer an undecided option. All applicants must apply and be admitted to a specific program of study. HONORS TUTORIAL COLLEGE PROGRAM(S) OF STUDY FOR WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING: (Please note: This choice of program must match your choice on page 1. If you are applying to Media Arts and Studies, please indicate which track you wish to pursue. Your responses to these questions will be considered by all individuals involved in the Honors Tutorial College admission process.
