Applications Engineer Isthmus Engineering and Manufacturing Cooperative is looking for a qualified Applications Engineer to join our project development team. IEM builds “state of the art” custom automated machinery for a variety of industries, including but not limited to Consumer Products, Medical/Life Sciences, Automotive and Light Industrial. IEM’s employee-owned, worker cooperative structure provides a unique opportunity to not only work with a highly skilled and dedicated group of people, but to also participate in a democratically run organization. Essential job duties • Review of project specifications and requirements • Work with applications group to develop concepts for custom automation solutions • Work with suppliers to help develop project scope • Work within a collaborative team environment • Create proposals and presentation documents • Interface with customers and project teams Required skills • Knowledge of current automation technologies • 3D modeling experience – SolidWorks preferred • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Problem solving • Good technical communication skills – written and oral • Strong attention to detail Other • Flexibility to travel • Automation/Robotic systems design and integration • Understanding of electrical controls requirements for automation Required experience • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent training and experience) • Three to five years of automation related application/sales preferred.
