Dr. Prathap C. Reddy Founder, Chairman Apollo Hospitals Group

I Would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the leadership of the Asia Pacific Vascular Society (APVS) for the tremendous work they have done in furthering research and education in the field of Vascular Disease: through mutual collaboration and the sharing of experiences that happens annually at the Asia Pacific Vascular Intervention Course (APVIC). The world is facing unprecedented healthcare challenges. Lifestyle based illnesses and non-communicable disease are amounting to nearly two-thirds of all deaths worldwide. Addressing these challenges will require all important stakeholders to work together to find global solutions. In this regard, APVS is doing stellar work- bringing together Vascular Interventionalists, Cardiologists, Vascular and Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Vascular Physicians, Interventional Radiologists. It has literally become a society of societies collaborating with multiple International and National Societies. I remember the first APVIC that was held at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals back in 2009. The APVIC has come a long way in the last five years : transforming from a one-day program to its current three day format, with an impressive array of International faculty participating, and with everincreasing interactive sessions that provide the delegates with hands-on experience and opportunities to learn. The leadership of APVS should lay out clear goals and a pathway for the country to innovate in the field of vascular disease and make a significant contribution to India and the world. I Would like to extend my warmest personal wishes to Dr. N N Khanna and the leadership of APVS and reaffirm that we at Apollo Hospitals will continue to support your laudable efforts in the coming years.

Dr. Prathap C Reddy Padma Vibhushan Chairman, Apollo Group of Hospitals

Patron's Message Dr. Naresh Trehan Padma Bhushan Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta - The Medicity

His vision has embraced fellow cardiologists in the Asia Pacific segment and has succeeded in giving it a global identity - it is already an institution. Many of his fellow members are from my own cradle, if I may say so; those from far beyond the borders of India deserve a special mention. Kudos to you, N N, I am happy to be a part of your work, Wishing you success after success.

Dr. Naresh Trehan Padma Bhushan Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta - The Medicity

Dr. Devi Shetty Padma Bhushan Past President, Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of India Council Member Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia

It is heartening to note the progress made by the Asia Pacific Vascular Society. The integration of Vascular Interventionlist, Interventional Cardiologists, Vascular and Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons Vascular Physicians and Interventional Radiologists under a common platform has resulted in a great flux of knowledge with the right blend of experience. No wonder the Asia Pacific Vascular Intervention courses are much sought after. Asia Pacific region is witnessing a significant shift in non-communicable disease patterns, a by product of lifestyle related disorders. This is also a region inhabited by more than half of world’s population. it is imperative that adequate training, mentoring and succession planning has to go into the area of Vascular Intervention to cope up with impending crisis in healthcare delivery. APVS has taken steps and right direction to harmonize care, research and education and not limited by geographical boundaries. The wonderful work has to continue and that is possible only through centres of excellence identified and established across the region such that the fruits of research and training are disseminated and practiced around the year. the present efforts will see benefits at the grass root level, perhaps, a decade later. The APVS leadership deserves applause for the commendable work they are carrying out. I wish APVS more achievements in the years to come.

Dr. (Prof.) M N Khanna Past President, Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of India Council Member, Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia

Over the years, Asia Pacific Vascular Society (APVS) has tried to achieve its original objectives, viz., continued appraisal, development and provision of a dedicated and complete vascular course and in particular, identifying the unsolved problems in the study of vascular diseases. I feel privileged to be the patron of Asia Pacific Vascular Society and be associated with legendry members of the Society. I have observed the workings of many societies and APVS remains in the forefront by taking initiatives in patient care, training, research, education and organizing a fast growing world class Scientific Meeting (Asia Pacific Vascular Intervention Course). There has been a progressive surge in the number of applicants for this course. It feels great to observe the growth the growth of this Society and its collaboration with several prestigious Cardiac and Vascular Societies of the world. I would like to thank Dr. Michel Henry and Dr. N N Khanna, who have been the Pillars of this Society. My best wishes to the course chairman, international and national directors.

It s indeed a pleasure and honour for me to be associated with the Asia Pacific Vascular Society. Asia Pacific Vascular Intervention Course (Which is the official annual meeting of APVS) is the most attended and sought after Endovascular Course in the Asia - Pacific region, with nearly 2000 delegates attending. It is the cementing force between the Inverventional Cardiologist, Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Rediologists, Cardiovascular Sugeons, Vascular Physicians and Device Industry, which has lead to the evolution of this speciality through a new found confidence of collaboration and excellence. New innovative techniques and technologies have been the hallmark of APVS Course. Partnership with International Organisations such as the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and interventions, USA and International Society of Endovascular Specialists, USA excelling in training and educating through annual courses, have made APVIC extremely instrumental in the growth and development of endovascular therapies in this part of the world. I Congratulate Dr N N Khanna for his complete passion and dedication to achieve our beliefs for which APVS was created. Dr. Saroj Das UK Dear Friends,

The raison d’etre for APVS is to propagate the benefit of Endovascular Intervention towards a less invasive and a less painful approach. I am proud to share the platform with some of the pioneers of Endovascular Revolution today.

Thanks to the tireless effort of Dr Khanna, the APVS has grown from strength to strength. The society has brought together faculties with different scientific interestswith a common goel in order to share the knowledge, skills and technology. we have seen the emergence of indigenous innovative techniques that can be shared with the rest of the world. APVS continues to remain in the forefront for demonstration of Cutting edge Technology in Endovascular Revolution.

In my four years of Association I have seen the exponential growth that APVS has achieved in attracting national and international delegates and their contribution towards a healthy and scientific debate in the management of our patients. The APVS brings wealth of knowledge to the younger as well as older clinicians belonging to the cardiovascular community. The addition of training in sumulation environment and hands on workshop courses have given a realy-life experience and an opportunity in building confidence in clinical practice. The epidemic of diabetes in india and in the rest of the world has not escaped our attention. Keeping this in mind we have introduced dedicated sessions dealing with cardiovascular complications of dabetes. in recognition of our duty towards welfare of our patents and healthcare professionals we have dedicated sessions for delivering a safe practice. I am confident that the delegates will enjoy and benefit every minutes from the descussion we will have during the 3 days of the meeting.
