Archaeoastronomical Interpretation of the Cult Tables from the Necropolis from Orsoia Nicolai Dermendziev (Summary) The present paper focuses on a detailed archaeoastronomical analysis of two similar archaeological artefacts - the cult tables from the Orsoia site. They are deposited in burials with cremation, dated to the late Bronze Age. The tables are considered as an evidence of knowledge of different astronomical (calendar) cycles within the frame of one ethnic group. The analysis is made with a high precision, despite some suppositions made under certain conditions, but these assumptions do not change the essence of the possible interpretations only add clarity to it. These are not exact calendars, but artefacts with excellently coded values of different calendar cycles, among which are included: Penthaeterrida (5 years), Octhaeterrida (8 years), Decaeterrida (10 years), Ekkeeterrida (16 years), Saros’ cycle (6585 days) and Methon’s cycle (19 years = 6940 days). Important conclusions are drawn about the connection of the number of the spirals with the encoded cycle, and the direction of their bending following the movement of the Lune and the Sun. The conclusions made in this article allow any future investigations to deal in a fast and objective way in the analyses of calendar ‘ornamented schemes’, in which different digital sets and spirals are included.
