Rationale

The purpose of this course is to offer an accredited learning programme for a number of teachers who are qualified to teach in the secondary sector but, for lack of opportunity, are currently deployed in state primary schools. The need hence arises for a programme which can offer these teachers the required knowledge, skills, attitudes and competences to teach in the early and primary years and, on successful completion of this programme, and four years teaching experience can enable them to apply for a ‘regular’ post as primary school teachers within the Directorates for Education. This course will also be offered as CPD to teachers currently teaching in the primary sector and who opt to do it on a voluntary basis to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
