ACCOUNT PROFILE AND PREFERENCES Activate your Account Profile and then use Preferences to customize the Bankruptcy Law Resource Center™ to: • Save documents and searches to My Folders (see page 16). • Set a default home page. • Select favorite collections to display on the home page. • Set default views for Index and Case search results. • Set a larger text size when viewing the Resource Center.

Account Profile Sign in to your account profile to retain saved preferences, searches, and email customizations. Under Areas of Interest, select Bankruptcy. Click Update Account.

Preferences – Bankruptcy Law Reporter™ Click Customize Topics under the title to select specific content to display on the Bankruptcy Law Reporter home page. On the Customize Topics for Bankruptcy Law Reporter screen, make selections for Headline display and choose topics, courts, states, and countries of interest to display on the Bankruptcy Law Reporter home page. Make the selection(s) and click SAVE. To view the subtopics included in each topic, click the Info icon

HOME PAGES The main home page contains links to all content included in your subscription, BNA Insights, and BNA Video Insights.

The main Home page and the focused topic pages are accessible either by the tabs or the photo icons located on the left side of the Home page.

The topic home pages — Consumer Bankruptcy and Commercial Bankruptcy — contain topic-specific collections of content and tools.

MENU BAR The menu bar is located above the banner and contains links for Site Map, Preferences, My Folders, Account Profile, Getting Started, About, Contact Us, Help, Sign Out, and Text size.

BANNER The banner displays on all pages in the Bankruptcy Law Resource Center™. In addition to the menu bar, find the Quick Search text box, Search History, Saved Searches, Advanced Search, Find Cases, Topic Finder, Facebook link, links to Bloomberg BNA Authors and Advisors, and Search My BNA.

Quick Search – search in all collections included in your subscription. When you are working in a collection, the banner displays the added option to search in All or the Selected Collection.

Search History/Saved Searches – searches are retained in the Search History queue for 90 days. Save them to retain a search past 90 days. To access a saved search, click Saved Searches.

Advanced Search – use the Advanced Search template to design a search within a specific collection. Options for field searching and date limiters are also available on the template. Find Cases – locate a case with a full or partial citation.

Topic Finder – search or browse for relevant materials by using pre-selected topics. Networking Links – follow Bloomberg BNA on Facebook. Sign up for Email Updates – see page 2 for detailed information. Authors and Advisors – list of the world’s leading bankruptcy experts contributing to the Bankruptcy Law Resource Center. Search My BNA – conduct a cross-product search in all of your subscriptions by clicking Search My BNA. Note: this feature only appears if you subscribe to more than one Bloomberg BNA service.

HOME The home page provides access to all content. Tabs identify the home pages with topic-specific content.

Set As My Home Page

Topic Home Pages

Open the topic-area Home page, and click the Set As My Home Page link.

Either select the tabs or click the photo icon on the left column for each of the topic home pages.

Topic Finder Search or Browse topics or subtopics included in the Topic Finder

Legal Analysis Includes Editorial Analysis, American Bankruptcy Institute Books, and BNA Portfolios.

Bankruptcy Code and Rules Full text of statutes, code, the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, including BNA Annotations.

Practice Tools Supreme Court scoreboard, checklists, and the Court Directory.

TOPIC HOME PAGES The topic home pages consolidate cases, news, and analysis content pertinent to each topic tab. On the Search frame for each topic home page, click the drop-down menu under More Search Tools and display the additional options. Click Search This Tab to search on a preloaded Advanced Search template containing all searchable content listed on a topic home page.

SEARCH Search the Bankruptcy Law Resource Center™ using the Search frame on the Home page and on each topic home page. Search the Resource Center Search all material included in your subscription. Enter the search terms into the text box and click Go.

Advanced Search Selected specific content collections for searching and use the additional options of fielded searching and date limitations.

Topic Finder Locate bankruptcy information by topic or subtopic for almost all of the content on the Bankruptcy Law Resource Center.

Search My BNA Click Search My BNA to search across all Bloomberg BNA subscriptions assigned to a User Name and Password.

Bankruptcy Cases Search for cases by citation or keyword. When searching by citation, choose whether to Find this case or Find cases citing this case.

Go To Enter a code or rule citation in the text box. Formatting is illustrated in the example below the text boxes.

Advanced Search Advanced Search provides maximum flexibility when formulating a search. Limit the search to a specific collection(s) in the Resource Center, use the optional search fields, topic finder, and date restrictions to structure a search. Select the collections to be searched. Enter the search terms or search string into the search box. [Enter] or click Search.

Search Fields Add search fields to a search string to limit the range of a search and increase the relevance of the search results. The searchable fields are specific to the collections being searched, and multiple fields can be searched simultaneously.

TOPIC FINDER Bankruptcy Law Resource Center™ content has been organized and categorized topically. The Topic Finder tool accesses all content included in a subscription. Browse or search the topics.

Access Find links to the Topic Finder on the banner or on the Search frame.

Browse To browse, click the Browse tab. Menu walk through the topics and make a selection. Click GO.

Search To search topics, click the Search tab. Enter terms and click Find Topics. Select topic(s) from the list, and click Go.

Topic Finder Assistant To quickly sift through topics discussed in a document, use the Topic Finder Assistant on the side of most documents. The number of total hits for a topic is listed to the far right of the term. Click the arrow next to a topic or court to move to the sections of the document that discuss the term. Use the up and down arrows to move to previous and next results. Click the arrow in the far right hand side to hide the window.

SEARCH RESULTS Search results are initially returned by tabbed categories: Cases, Law and Rules, etc. Click a category tab to view the search results list for each category. There are options to display search results by relevance, or in a split screen.

Filter the search results using the available categories listed in the REFINE YOUR RESULTS category list. Open each category to view the available subcategories and make selections. The selected categories compile under Your Search Selections. To remove a category or return to the previous level, click the x next to a topic/subtopic selection. To save the search, click Add to My Folders. Click a document title to open the file.

SEARCH RESULTS (continued)

When viewing the full-text of a case there are additional components: Split Screen – the split-screen feature allows simultaneous viewing of the search results and the full text of the documents in those results. Click Full Screen to toggle back to the full-screen display.

Case Citations – locate the BNA citation in the heading of the decision. If a non-BNA citation is available, both the BNA and non-BNA citations are listed in the title area of the case.

THIS CASE CITED IN – choose a category to view where the current case is cited.

Search Results Toolbar The search results toolbar resides on top of the screen on the Search Results display.

Search Within Results – use this link to refine a search and limit the results by adding additional search terms or criteria (available only when using the Advanced Search option). Go to Hit – navigate to and through the search result document(s). Results in – toggle among the content categories included in a set of the search results. Add to My Folders: Search – click to add a search string to a folder. See page 16 for additional information. Print – click the Print icon to launch the print function. Add to My Folders: Document – click to add a document to a folder. See page 16 for additional information. Share – send a document link to other Bloomberg BNA Bankruptcy Law Resource Center™ subscribers. Split Screen – simultaneously view a category’s search results and the full text of a selected document.

INDEXES Bloomberg BNA Indexes are compiled by a dedicated staff of legal subject specialists. Browse or search BNA’s Bankruptcy Law Reporter™ Indexes in the Indexes frame or on the Site Map.

Topical Index Browse the topical indexes for BNA’s Bankruptcy Law Reporter and use the alphabetical ribbon to link to your topic. Use the drop-down menu to access indexes for a specific year.

NEWS Several options exist for keeping up with the latest bankruptcy news. BNA’s Bankruptcy Law Reporter™ – weekly publication with continual bankruptcy news via email. Today’s Top Headlines – synopsis of the major bankruptcy news. Latest Bankruptcy Cases – announcement of new cases of note.

RESOURCE CENTER UPDATE Monitor the Resource Center Update frame to view the new content and features as they are added to the Resource Center. Click the Resource Center link.

BANKRUPTCY CODE AND RULES Find the BANKRUPTCY CODE AND RULES frame on all home pages. Click the appropriate link to browse the code, statutes, and rules. Search for statutes and rules using the Advanced Search template. Drill down LAWS AND RULES and select Code, Statutes, and/or Rules. Selected bankruptcy rules are annotated. The annotations define the purpose and practical considerations for each Code section or statute. The annotations are written by Bloomberg BNA’s staff of subject-specialist attorneys. If a rule is annotated, the annotation displays as a sidebar in the full text. Click More to view the entire Summary file. To view all rules with annotations, click BNA Bankruptcy Annotations in the Legal Analysis frame (see below).

LEGAL ANALYSIS View the compiled BNA Bankruptcy Annotations arranged by code section. There are seven bankruptcy treatises from the American Bankruptcy Institute available as e-books. Click any of the titles under BNA Portfolios for in-depth full-text analysis of the title’s topic. Browse or search using the Advanced Search template, the Annotations, treatises, treatise supplements, and Portfolios.

MY FOLDERS Use the My Folders feature to retain a search string or document. Log into Account Profile in order to use this feature. To save a search string, click Add to My Folders in the Search Options toolbar. To save a document, click Add to My Folders while viewing the file. Add the document or search to an existing folder, or create a new folder. Add additional identifying information as needed, and click Submit.

Accessing the Saved Items Click My Folders on the menu bar to access the saved documents. To open the file, click on the item’s name.

To sort by column, click a column heading (Type, Name, etc.). To display the Folder Options drop-down menu, click the Folder Options icon on the Folders column. Right-click the Name of an item to display the Item Options drop-down menu. To create a note, click the Notes icon in the Notes column, enter text, and click Submit. Click the Notes icon to create a note. When a file has a note, the + sign next to the icon is removed.

PRACTICE TOOLS Use Practice Tools to reduce research and preparation time. There are 4 Practice Tools available: Supreme Court Scoreboard, ABI Forms & Checklists, BNA Forms & Checklists, and Bankruptcy Court Directory.

Supreme Court Scoreboard The Supreme Court Scoreboard tracks bankruptcy-related petitions for Supreme Court review from filing through argument to decision.

ABI and BNA Forms & Checklists Forms from the expert authors of the Resource Center’s American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) books and BNA portfolios are collected here for easy access along with additional documents from other bankruptcy practitioners. This collection includes a variety of forms and checklists that can serve as examples or be adapted to create motions, agreements, or other documents.

Bankruptcy Court Directory The Bankruptcy Court Directory provides access to contact information for all U.S. bankruptcy courts, judges, and clerks using an interactive clickable map of the United States. The content can include court name, address, phone and fax numbers, Internet sites, and email addresses. Either select a state from the drop-down menu or click a state on the map. Click Go. Click the name of the court of interest. The jurisdiction, website, and list of judges displays under the map.

INSIGHTS BNA Insights Authored by experts in bankruptcy law, BNA Insights offer analysis of key legal, legislative, regulatory, or business developments, with an emphasis on practical implications and emerging trends. BNA Insights are searchable on the Advanced Search template and available in PDF format.

BNA Video Insights BNA Video Insights are incisive analytical commentaries providing practical guidance from practicing attorneys and other thought leaders. Insights discuss today’s critical developments and tomorrow’s emerging issues in bankruptcy law. BNA Video Insights are searchable on the Advanced Search template.

BANKRUPTCY NEWS MONITOR™ Access information from thousands of resources on the Bankruptcy News Monitor™. Click Bankruptcy News Monitor to launch the monitor. Information is sorted by Commercial Bankruptcy News, Consumer Bankruptcy News, and Company News.

PRINT To print a document(s), select the document(s) from a full-screen display, document list, or search results page. The selected documents are displayed in the Print Dialog box. To print a single document, click the Print icon while viewing the document. To print multiple documents from the search results list, click the checkbox next to each document title to be printed, and then click the Print icon . A maximum of 25 documents can be printed simultaneously. Segmented Printing To print segments of Bloomberg BNA Analysis included in the Resource Center, click the Print icon next to a segment. Options to print by segment are displayed in the print dialog box.

Print Dialog Box Select a text format Print documents in either Printer-friendly or Rich Text Format (RTF). When printing more than one document, select RTF in order to place section breaks between each document. Select Portfolio segment(s) Click the radio button to choose the Portfolio segments to print. Segments displayed below the selected segment are also printed. Print or Display your selections To select and deselect documents prior to printing, use the linked commands in the print dialog box. Click the Print/Display Selected Documents button for each frame to launch the print preview function.

Source Information The print display opens in a separate window and adds source and contact information to the top and bottom of the document(s).

Designed for the busy professional, this session gets you up and running in 30 minutes or less. Express Training familiarizes you with the basic functions of the product and shows you how to access a wide range of content and practice tools.

This hour-long course prepares participants to conduct basic research by using the content on the Resource Center to retrieve information quickly and efficiently. Participants will also experience the integration of the Resource Center’s components: expert analysis, news and developments, primary sources, special reports, and practice tools. Employing three different research strategies, participants work through exercises and searching while learning to locate answers with the Resource Center.
