In this 2-part workshop you sculpt a 3-D T. rex or Triceratops, lead by artist Lia VanPelt-Riddell. She teaches proportion, shape and perspective, as well as finishing details such as wrinkles, creases, and scales. And you have plenty of opportunities to tour the new exhibit.

CAPTURE A DINOSAUR

Heidi Scarfone for fun instruction in interpreting these giant dinosaurs onto paper through the use of graphite pencil and/or watercolor. Turn your dinosaur experience into cartoon drawings complete with a dinosaur story, or create drawings that really leap off the page.  Take a guided tour through the Battle of the Titans exhibit as artist Heidi Scarfone explains proportion, shape and perspective. Once back in the classroom she guides you through these techniques using graphite pencils, watercolor or colored pencils and develop skills in line weight and shading. All supplies are included. Take a late-night flashlight tour through the Battle of the Titans exhibit and see these creatures really come to life! Play dino games, make great crafts, and enjoy a dino-themed singsong around our indoor campfire. Participants spend the night camping indoors “under the stars” in RBG’s auditorium. A two- or fourperson freestanding tent may be reserved for an additional fee of $10 (while supplies last). Snack and breakfast included. Please bring a mug, sleeping bag and foamy (floor pad) for each family member. What did they eat, how many legs did they walk on and why did they disappear? Join us for three classes filled with exciting investigations into the incredible dinosaur world. The Junior Paleontology Club meets Saturday mornings and participants work with our interpreter Jackson Hudecki and enjoy enrichment activities, games, crafts and plenty of time exploring the dinosaur exhibit. You can decide who wins “The Battle of the Titans”. Capture a dinosaur on camera and learn photography techniques such as composition, lighting, camera angles, close-ups and more. What could be greater than taking pictures of Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops? Cameras are available for loan and USB sticks are provided.
