Visit Belfast – Background information Founded in 1999, Visit Belfast (formerly Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau) is a public private sector partnership funded and supported by Belfast City Council, Tourism Northern Ireland (formerly Northern Ireland Tourist Board) and the private sector. It is the official tourism marketing agency for the Belfast City Region, dedicated to promoting Belfast as a city break, conference and cruise ship destination. It is also responsible for the operation of three gateway tourist information centres. Visit Belfast represents over 500 tourism businesses and services across the industry including accommodation providers, attractions, conference venues and services, tour operators, transport providers, entertainment venues, restaurants and cafes, pubs and clubs and event organisers. It provides an extensive range of marketing platforms for tourism businesses to promote their products and services to travel trade and consumers. In marketing Belfast as a world class destination, we are keen to work with businesses that reflect the best of what the city has to offer potential visitors.

Location Visit Belfast’s head office and the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre (VBWC) are located at: 9, Donegall Square North, Belfast, BT1 5GB. Visit Belfast also operates Visitor Information Centres (VICs) at George Best Belfast City Airport (GBBCA) and Belfast International Airport (BIA) and ‘pop up’ information desks off-site i.e. on cruise ships or during events. Travel both inside and outside the UK may form part of your job.

VISIT BELFAST - DIGITAL MARKETING EXECUTIVE

POSITION:

Digital Marketing Executive (Permanent, Full time)

DEPARTMENT:

Marketing and Communications Department

REPORTING TO:

Web and Digital Manager

SALARY RANGE:

£19,632 - £25,616

RATIONALE: Web and digital marketing is a key medium in all of Visit Belfast’s marketing and communications activity, with the continual need for updated, relevant content and information to be sourced from Visit Belfast’s partners which is fed through our various digital channels. PURPOSE: Reporting to the Web and Digital Manager you will be supporting the implementation of Visit Belfast’s digital marketing activity, leading to the achievement of set objectives and targets, promoting Belfast as a top European tourism destination in line with the marketing strategy and objectives as set out in Visit Belfast’s annual Business Plan. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Source, proofread, edit and write content to a high standard, for use across all of Visit Belfast’s digital channels.



Contribute fully to the maintenance and development of Visit Belfast’s website, blog and apps including the events calendar, tourism product profiles, offers, competitions, themed sections, blog articles and campaign sections.



Assist with the management and development of Visit Belfast’s email marketing activity including regular consumer and tourism industry ezines, creating engaging and appealing content for the target audience.



Assist with the management and development of Visit Belfast’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Google +, Instagram and Pinterest pages (and any other social media platforms), creating innovative and engaging content as well as advert copy. Ensure continuous growth of fan base, maintaining high engagement scores. Monitor and reply to queries in a timely manner.



Assist in the optimisation of Visit Belfast’s websites for search engines and users, to increase website traffic.



Assist with the maintenance and development of the touchscreens and information screens in the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre and off-site locations.



Assist in the development and implementation of Visit Belfast’s digital marketing strategies and campaign marketing plans.

Monitor and analyse Visit Belfast’s digital marketing activity (as well as benchmark against competitors) including website traffic, social media engagement and email marketing using tools such as Google Analytics.



Develop and generate promotional packages from Visit Belfast partners including competitions and offers to be promoted across digital marketing channels.



Communicate effectively with other Visit Belfast departments to ensure integrated activity across the organisation.



Support the team in the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with Visit Belfast’s members, partners, sponsors and the industry as appropriate.



Undertake other duties as required by the Web and Digital Manager.

OTHER: 

To undertake work out of normal office hours as required.



To carry out all duties with full regard to Visit Belfast’s equal opportunities and fair employment policies.



Travel on behalf of Visit Belfast is an essential part of the job.



Clean driving license and access to a car for work purposes is desirable.

JOB SPECIFICATION - DIGITAL MARKETING EXECUTIVE

Qualifications

Essential Criteria  Degree level qualification, or equivalent, (i.e. Bachelor’s Degree with Honours, Bachelor’s Degree etc.) in a relevant discipline such as Web or Digital Marketing, Marketing, Communications etc.

Desirable Criteria  CIM Membership / membership of a recognised marketing or digital marketing institution.  Digital diploma from a recognised digital/marketing institution.

Relevant Experience

 Minimum 2 years of experience working in a web and  Minimum 2 years of digital, marketing or communication related discipline in experience working a commercial environment. specifically in a web and digital marketing discipline.  Minimum 1 year of experience in the development and management of web and digital marketing activity such  1 year of experience working as websites, blogs, social media, apps and email in the tourism and hospitality marketing. sector.  Excellent writing, proofreading and content editing skills.  Minimum 1 year of experience using Content Management Systems.  Minimum 1 year of experience using image editing software such as Photoshop.  Minimum 1 year of experience using analytics packages such as Google Analytics.  Minimum 1 year of experience using email marketing software.  Experience of Search Engine Optimisation.  Experience of using Microsoft Office packages.
