BIOGRAPHY Jean Noël Montagné est plasticien, fondateur de l’association Art Sensitif www.artsens.org et du Centre de Ressources Art Sensitif à Mains d’Oeuvres, Saint Ouen www.craslab.org, un médialab dédié à l’initiation, au conseil et à l’accompagnement des artistes, pédagogues, étudiants et tout acteur culturel désirant découvrir les technologies de captation, d’actuation et de traitement temps réel dans la création artistique contemporaine. Amateur des pratiques artistiques liées aux communautés du libre, adepte du « Do it yourself », il développe des interfaces faciles à fabriquer et bon marché pour permettre aux individus de produire et utiliser librement leur propre technologie. Il est le créateur du festival Estive Numérique. He is part of the bricolabs network.
Paula Vélez. Media_video artist, filmmaker, vj, involved in cultural. social and environmental projects. Engaged with a project in the Caribbean Colombian coast ; a green pilot house cultural center built with bioconstruction methods, working on a documentary film in Colombia. She make part of a big network involving arts, hackerspaces, independent collectives and labs from south america. Makes part of the bricolabs network.
Rob van Kranenburg wrote The Internet of Things. A critique of ambient technology and the allseeing network of RFID, Network Notebooks 02, Institute of Network Cultures. He is cofounder of bricolabs and the founder of Council. Together with Christian Nold he published Situated Technologies Pamphlets 8: The Internet of People for a PostOil World. He currently works as Community Manager at the EU Project Societal. He is consultant to IoT China, Shanghai 2014.
ABSTRACT After a research and workshop residency dedicated to develop prototypes and user manuals for washing machines open source, Rob van Kranenburg, Paula Vélez and Jean Noël Montagné will meet remotely in the TAP Waterwheel platform to discuss the politics, ecological, social implications of open source washing machines. How it is possible to rethink the technological and sociological ways we wash clothes around the world, in accordance with economical, cultural and environmental aspects. is it possible to create new modes, new technologies, new ways to liberate people in this task, in a consciousness of sustainable development and respect of the natural and human environment ? Is it possible to bring solutions in some isolated and poor communities for people using soap and washing by hand cloths in rivers and water sources. How to make people think about the water resources and the importance to take care of this vital element.
