U.S. TEAM READY TO LAUNCH NEW MH370 SEARCH The U.S. team on Ocean Infinity plans to begin its search for the missing aircraft in a 9,600-sq-mi area first. If it does not find the debris field in that area, it will continue searching northeast along the so-called seventh arc, in the Indian Ocean off western Australia. And this time, they say, it will do all it can to find the wreckage as its 'Only option' is to find missing plane. The new search area is determined by the Australian Transportation Safety Board (ATSB). The search will occur further north and wider than the twoyear search of 46,300 sq mi that ended in January 2017.

Experts believe the aircraft likely ran out of fuel along that arc, where the last ‘handshake’ occurred between the airliner and an Inmarsat ground station in Perth, via its satellite over the Indian Ocean. All other contact with MH370 had ceased hours earlier, said official reports. But some family members of the victims believe the aircraft could be in another area, further from Australia and nearer to Mauritius. (Click here to read). An Australian oceanographer at the CSIRO has suggested a new search area for MH370, where the Ocean Infinity vessel will focus its efforts. Plans call for Ocean Infinity to concurrently deploy up to eight

SATELITE IMAGERY HELPED DEFINE SEARCH AREA multi-sensor, untethered autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) made by Kongsberg Marine, from a host ship leased from Norwegian company Swire Seabed. Unmanned surface vessels (USVs) also play a part of the operation. The AUVs will search 460 sq mi per day at depths up to nearly 20,000 feet, or 10 times the rate achieved by the previous search and nearly 5,000 feet deeper. The ATSB has concluded that the Boeing 777 made a steep final descent toward the ocean, although it still hasn’t

determined whether or not it broke up before impact. The ATSB has worked with oceanographers who performed drift analysis, and geospatial analysts who examined satellite imagery of possible wreckage on the ocean surface, to help define the new search area. So far authorities have recovered 27 pieces of aircraft wreckage from beaches in East Africa, La Reunion, Madagascar, and Mauritius, most of which likely came from MH370, including the right flaperon and the immediately adjacent section of the outboard flap.

SLOWING GDP GROWTH?  The Oct-Nov 2017 data imply slower fourth quarter of last year (4Q2017) GDP growth in Malaysia on the back of slowdown in industrial production growth from +5.9% year-on-year (Y-o-Y)in the third quarter(3Q 2017) to +4.2% YoY in Oct–Nov 2017. This was due to slower growth in manufacturing (Oct-Nov 2017: +5.4% YoY; 3Q 2017: +7.1% YoY) and mining (OctNov 2017: +0.5% YoY; 3Q 2017: +2.5% YoY) amid steady growth in electricity (Oct-Nov 2017: +4.3% YoY; 3Q 2017: +4.4% YoY). Other key indicators also moderated in Oct-Nov 2017 e.g. deceleration in retail trade index (Oct-Nov 2017: +8.5% YoY; 3Q 2017: +10.4% YoY) pointing to slower real private consumption growth in 4Q 2017; slower growth in volumes of exports

(Oct-Nov 2017: +11.4% YoY; 3Q 2017: +14.1% YoY) and imports (Oct-Nov 2017: +12.8% YoY; 3Q 2017: +13.3% YoY) suggesting moderation in 4Q 2017 real exports and imports of goods and services. The notable exception is the surge in palm oil output (4Q 2017: +22.8% YoY; 3Q 2017: +8.9% YoY), implying faster agriculture sector growth in 4Q 2017. “Overall, this is consistent with our full-year 2017 real GDP growth estimate of +5.8% (Jan-Sep 2017: +5.9%), which priced in slower 4Q 2017 (3Q 2017: +6.2% YoY), followed by +5.3% growth in 2018,” said Maybank IB Research. The Nikkei Malaysia Manufacture PMI came in at 49.9 (Nov 2017: 52.0) with the survey noting a contraction in new orders. READ FULL STORY HERE

In fact, we ventured in what is passionate to us. That is why we have a diverse business portfolio.” Amirah holds a degree in Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communication) from the University of Melbourne, obtaining her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Before joining the family business in 2011, she served as a Management Executive at Outfit Recruitment in Melbourne before joining Bates 141 Worldwide as part of their client servicing team in the Kuala

It is only when you are ready that you will then come to help the family business,” said Amirah, who also holds the directorship of other companies under the Arca Group. The 31-year-old explained that the name of Arca is created from the name of seven daughters which start with the A alphabet, followed by her mother’s name Ramlah, and alphabet C for the name of the men in their family – Che Azizuddin and Che Aiman. “There is only one reason for choosing this name. The men are always behind the women to support and protect them,” said Amirah who was born in Leeds, United Kingdom. CLICK TO READ THE FULL INTERVIEW HERE

Silicon-rich water may help lower aluminium levels in MS patients Spritzer bottled water, which is silicon-rich mineral water, could facilitate the removal of aluminium from the body via urination. “Drinking silicon-rich mineral water can help remove excess aluminium from multiple sclerosis patients, according to a study backed by a Malaysian company,” says the study. The paper focused on patients with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS), a chronic autoimmune condition for which there are limited therapeutic options, due to its unknown origin. Patients have been shown to have unusually high levels of aluminium in their urine, supporting a previously found link between MS and human exposure to aluminium and

At the same time, silicon-rich mineral water has been shown to facilitate the removal of aluminium from the body via urination, the paper said. Based on this, researchers at the UK’s Keele University and Austria’s Medical University of Innsbruck sought to test the efficacy of silicon-rich mineral water in SPMS patients. Silicon versus sclerosis They conducted a study on 15 SPMS patients (seven male, eight female) aged 52 to 73. The study included a 12-week

The researchers subsequently observed that regular consumption of silicon-rich mineral water significantly increased 14 of the 15 patients’ urinary excretion of aluminium, when compared with the baseline period. The researchers also observed that the female participants excreted “significantly more aluminium” during the baseline period than the male participants, which they said “suggested a higher body burden of aluminium in females”. They added that since the incidence of MS was higher in

females, it was possible that their higher body burden of aluminium predisposed them to the disease. Limited evidence for the long term. While drinking silicon-rich mineral water for 12 consecutive weeks did cause more aluminium to be removed from the SPMS patients via urination, the researchers said this “provided limited evidence” that this could help them reduce their body burden of aluminium in the long run. Regarding the gender difference, they wrote: “Metabolomic profiling may in the future reveal further gender differences in MS, some of which may also shed some light on how aluminium is handled by the body in MS.”
