CMA Amnesty  CPR Training

Today we observed a two minute silence to mark our respect for those who have fought to defend freedom in wars and conflicts of the past. We were also represented at the Royal British Legion Armistice Day Service at Gorton Cemetery. It is important that we reflect at these times on the freedoms we have and also on our own responsibilities to avoid causing conflict. I am glad that most of you recognise this and do your best to be peaceful every day. Next week student and staff leaders are meeting with The Peace Foundation ( https://www.peace-foundation.org.uk/ ) to discuss ways that we can work with them to ensure that our community joins together to prevent conflict and atrocity from happening again. Thank you once again to all of you for your support

Religious Studies On Wednesday Miss Austin held the first CMA Amnesty International meeting with a positive turn out from students eager to get 'stuck in' fighting for people's rights support campaigns and tackle global issues. Each of CMA's Amnesters were given their own 'Passport to Human Rights' and started to think about topics students could discuss, debate &  learn about and where they can make an impact. The group plan to share a current affairs topic during form time with the rest of the school and during 'Interfaith Week' they plan to share opinions on freedom to choose your own religious belief. Keep up to date with the group on our social media pages or follow them on instagram @CMA_Amnesty .

Science  Recently Miss Marsh arranged for over 120 students across years 7, 8 and 9 to take part in restart a heart day. During their science lessons a volunteer from the north west ambulance service was invited into the school and trained groups of students how to recognise a cardiac arrest, how to perform CPR and how to use a defibrillator which are available in many public locations. Every student who took park received a certificate as evidence they completed their training.
