Book Review Example Page 1 The book I am reviewing today is Mockingjay by Susan Collins. I recently read this book in class. It’s about Katniss Everdeen’s final battle to defeat the evil President Snow. While there are some things I liked about the book, overall I did not enjoy it.

Introduction: 

The book title and author.

When and where did you read the book.

12 word summary sentence.

Your opinion of the book.

Your opinion of the PLOT:

First of all, the plot was unrealistic! Spoiler alert! I don’t think Peta and Katniss would have ended up married in real life. Peta just seemed too messed up mentally for Katniss to ever want to marry him! It made the ending disappointing for me. Second, the characters were unbelievable. For example, in the story suggests that Gail was the person responsible for dropping bombs that killed Katniss’ sister Prim. Really? Nothing in the all the Hunger Games books makes it seem like he would do that. It didn’t make sense to me and I was upset that the author added that part.

Book Review Example

Book Review Example Page 2 There was one thing I liked about Mockingjay though: the writing was poetic. The author used many similes. One example I liked was when Katniss described being in the arena as “like being an insect trapped under a bowl filled with steaming air.” It helped me understand how she must have felt in arena. In summary, while Mockingjay has some poetic writing. it also has an unrealistic plot and unbelievable characters. That’s why I didn’t enjoy this book and wouldn’t recommend it to you to read.
