30 year history: UK picture • 1987 = 40,000 UK students, trainees, young people, volunteers, apprentices, staff and youth workers, going to 32+ countries • In 30 years it’s estimated that 600,000+ people will have taken part, including: o 307,700 HE students o 129,000 education staff and youth workers

Study abroad • Erasmus+ offers students in higher education the opportunity to study abroad as part of their degree • Students from all subject areas can participate, at any time during their degree (except during the first year) • Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees & Erasmus+ Master Loan

Work abroad • Higher education students from all subject areas can carry out an Erasmus+ traineeship abroad in a European enterprise • Students from vocational education and training (VET), schools and other training providers can carry out a traineeship abroad in a company, workplace (public organisation, NGO etc.) or in a VET school with periods of work-based learning in a company

More than just mobility projects… Strategic Partnerships are transnational projects designed to develop and share innovative practices and promote cooperation, peer learning, and exchanges of experiences in the fields of education, training, and youth. Examples include: • ATEST (Assessment of Traineeships within the European credit transfer SysTem) • DEEM (Developing Enterprise and Employability during Mobilities) • Market Basket Virtual Student Collaboration Model

• 3.7% of graduates who were mobile during their degree were unemployed, compared to 4.9% of their non-mobile peers. • 80.1% of graduates who were mobile during their degree earned a first class or upper second class degree, compared to 73.6% of their non-mobile peers. • Among graduates who were mobile during their degree, those in work were more likely to be in a graduate level job (76.4% compared to 69.9%) and earn 5% more than their non-mobile peers. • On average, graduates from more disadvantaged backgrounds who were mobile during their degree earned 6.1% more, and those in work were more likely to be in a graduate level job (80.2% compared to 74.7%) than their non-mobile peers.
