It is not possible to jump from the outdoor arena into the woods, therefore the second phase will NOT follow directly on from the first phase, there will be at least a couple of minutes break in between phases. Judging: Classes 1 - 3: The first phase will be judged on penalties and the second phase on style & control. The show jumping and x-country scores will be added together and the winner will be the rider and horse combination with the LOWEST total score Class 3a: Qualifier for Sunshine Tour Eventers Challenge & Arena Eventing 2017. First phase (show jumping) will be judged on time and penalty points and second phase (xc) will be judged on style & control. The show jumping penalty points and x-country scores will be added together and the winner will be the horse/rider combination with the LOWEST total score overall and the fastest show jumping time. Fall of either horse or rider in any phase will result in elimination

First Phase: Judged on penalties (Class 3a is also timed) • 4 faults for a each knock down • 4 faults for each refusal • 3 refusals = elimination from competition (but may continue on course)

Second Phase: Judged on style & control (all classes) • If a rider has 3 refusals at the same jump, they will not be eliminated, but asked to move on to the next fence • Marks will be awarded on how the rider deals with problems. • Any competitor in difficulty at a fence must make way for the following competitor

Notes: 1. There is a 20x40m indoor arena to warm up. 2. The surface of the woods is predominately woodchip. 3. Competitors may enter more than once. 4. Late entries may be accepted after the closing date (depending on numbers), but no entries accepted on the day.
