 Monday-Friday - 2 hours per session total of 20 hours Begin your journey with our Beginners Course and explore the power of Ashtanga Yoga. This ancient art and science of healing uses yogic postures, deep breathing and specific gazing points to leave you feeling more peaceful and your body more healthy and fit. This yoga system involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures, combined with concentration (dhrishti) and internal focus (bandhas). If practiced and memorized in its correct sequential order, Ashtanga Yoga gradually leads the practitioner to rediscovering his or her fullest potential on all levels of human consciousness (physical, psychological and spiritual). By maintaining this discipline with regularity and devotion, one acquires steadiness of body and mind. This Beginners Course is ideal for those who are completely new to Ashtanga Yoga as well as those who have recently started an Ashtanga practice or those current practitioners seeking a refresher course.

Important note: You will receive group instruction during the first week of the course and then group and individualized instruction from Bela on the second week, who will grow to be familiar with your specific needs. This one-to-one work with the teacher is invaluable in developing an inspiring and deeply fulfilling practice. The Mysore class is the traditional method of teaching as established by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. Even if you are brand new to the practice, you will learn slowly, at your own pace with the supportive energy of a group and the guidance of a qualified teacher. This course includes breathwork and philosophy All levels and abilities are welcome, especially beginners. This course is designed for beginners to Ashtanga Yoga, making the practice simple enough that anyone can do this course successfully. Continuing students who want to deepen their experience of the subtleties of the practice will also benefit. ASHTANGA BEGINNERS COURSE Costs: EUR 200,-* Dates: Mon to Fri Feb 20-24 and Mon to Fri Feb 27- March 3 Time: 16:30 - 18:30 During the course the tradition, lineage and fundamentals for this practice as taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois will be introduced to you. Starting with the basics of the fundamental movements and breath synchronization, and then applying this to the Sun Salutations, and developing into the Standing Postures, we will explore the key elements of the practice of Ashtanga Yoga; breath, gaze, bandhas (energy locks) and alignment. Together we will learn to link these elements with various asanas (postures) while practicing being present moment to

Bela has been teaching Yoga since 1996. Born in the Philippines, and raised in San Francisco, California, Bela was introduced to Yoga, Vedanta and Buddhist practices in her childhood by her mother.  She practiced Sivananda Yoga for 10 years and tried other styles as well until she found Ashtanga Yoga, which transformed her life. In 2004, she started going to Mysore to study with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy Jois and is Authorized to teach the Primary Series by Sharath R. Jois.  Bela is dedicated to Ashtanga Yoga’s traditional style as taught by Guruji and Sharath.   She follows the firm belief that the method is actually the “teacher” and the best teacher is one who inspires students to “practice, practice, practice.”  She has unequivocal faith in the Magic that is in Mysore at the Feet of the Guru.
