About the Conference The Department of English of Indian Academy Degree College-Autonomous takes its debut stand in organizing an International Conference on ‘Contemporary Musings on Literatures of the World’ with a view to generate well-researched ideas and innovative thoughts among scholars and academicians. The immediate focus of the conference is on the global scenario and the manner in which literature records the changes that occur in a typically fast-phased mechanized world. Living in a world where we do not have time to look back, to stand and stare at the myriad mysteries that form the finer aspects of life, literature tends to bring back to us those nuances of vivacity that escape us, camouflaged as they are, in our quest for materialistic attainment. Literature and language have evolved over time. Time, the silent spectator to the ever changing world of Literature, bears witness to the diverse ideas and beliefs that have dominated the society at varied times and has been reflected in literatures. These

transformations in the field of literature and language have matured over centuries providing new dimensions. Today, with the ever-changing social scenario and the waves of fresh ideas flooding in, a changed perspective on the ancient texts, on literatures that were buried has been unearthed to lend novel ideas and paradigms to those well-memorized classical learning. This conference intends to refresh and update the scenario of English literature and language, as it is through the discussions of such diverse novel ideas that a refreshing breath can be infused into our beings - so long polluted by the stagnancy of beliefs and formal education - resulting perhaps in the strengthening of the soul and vitality that we have lost so long ago. Today, Literature is no longer bound only to the classical texts and genres, but has broadened its realms to include the world of movies, corporate writings, translations, digitalized writing, etc., reaching beyond the domain of creative writings of the conventional genres of yore. The central theme of the conference, ‘Contemporary Musings on literatures of the World’ abounds in such distinct readings of literatures that impart a new perspective to the ideas that were set such long ago; together with readings of contemporary literature showcasing the novelty involved in its making. This event portends to provide a platform for researchers and scholars of reputed universities and academic institutions, a common space to gather and exchange their views and findings, share their apprehensions, enhance their interests and derive inspirations. It also aims at providing a closer look at the underlying principles and methodologies of academic research in articulated sub-genres, focusing attention on the new approaches to old literatures and an arena of discourse. All papers are expected to be of high quality, original and not published elsewhere or submitted for publication. Papers will be reviewed by eminent scholars in the respective areas. Only well written papers will be published with ISBN number and will be communicated to the respective paper presenters at a later date.
