NOTES

You will notice that on some Sundays there is no hymn number listed for the hymn we sing and only the text is on the screen. There are a couple of different reasons this occurs. (It is not a mistake in the bulletin!) When nothing is listed where the hymn number usually goes, it means that we are singing a different text than the one in the hymnal. Nearly all of our text changes are made because we choose to use the original text setting, the one we all are most familiar with or have memorized. It removes some of the awkwardness when singing very familiar hymns. On different occasions, the hymn text is on the screen, but the bulletin says Tune No. 435 even though we are singing the text printed in the hymnal. The reason is that we are singing a different tune than the one printed with that text. At the Name of Jesus (which we are singing today) is such an example. Sometimes we wed a familiar tune (Like a River Glorious) to a less familiar text (At the Name of Jesus). This practice enables us to broaden our hymn base and become familiar with more hymns. For those of you who read the notes as you sing, it can be awkward when we are singing a different tune than what is on the page! Hence, we list the Tune Number in the bulletin. And of course, there are those times when we simply learn both the tune and text of a new hymn. - Dr. Dan Sharp (Please silence all phones and electronic devices.)

DAVE RAMSEY’S FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents Biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. Get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and plan for the future. Facilitated by Jim and Jill Adkinson and Steve Cahill, this 9 week course will take place Sunday afternoons. Pricing and registration available online.

AN EXPLORATION OF THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY Come for this 10-week study with Reformed Theological Seminary Professor Dr. Mark Futato and learn about this book at the heart of the Old Testament.
