BURNING BRONZES A New Exhibit at the Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts August 12th, 2012. The Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts, a non-profit art gallery in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, will host an exhibition of the Spanish sculptor/painter/ conceptual artist Angel Orensanz entitled “Burning Bronzes” on September 12, at 6 p.m. The event will start with a reception followed by the opening of the exhibition showcasing the artist’s sculpture works in bronze, as well as many of his drawings and paintings. The Angel Orensanz Foundation Gallery has hosted many exhibitions in the years since its opening in 1992. Many emerging and established artists have been exposed in the place that, although it is an historical landmark, is to many still an undiscovered treasure of New York City. Some important exhibitions have included: Antonio Bordallo: The Passion of Urban Design and Architecture, The Armory Show Art Week, The Floating Sistine Chapel, Lady Gaga Haus Parties (new record release party), and countless other high-profile events. The building, which is over 160 years old, has a deep connection with Angel Orensanz, ever since he created the Foundation in the early 1980s. He uses the space as his studio, with most of his sculptures and installations being conceptualized and created there. This time, the foundation is paying homage to Angel, by exhibiting his bronze sculptures, drawings, and paintings to the public.
