Nov 30, 2012 - Call for Presentations. The 2013 Canadian School Boards Association Congress ... Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Call for Presentations The 2013 Canadian School Boards Association Congress Thursday, July 4 to Saturday, July 6, 2013 Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Vancouver, BC Introduction Canada’s population is becoming increasingly diverse in a wide variety of ways; our public schools reflect this diversity. In the urban areas of British Columbia, as well as most large cities across the country, public school students represent over 100 different home language groups. Public schools provide opportunities for students with different cultures, languages, ability levels and sexual orientations to learn how to live and work together, often with great success. As leaders of the public school system, school trustees are called upon to devise policies and processes that will optimize the opportunities while minimizing the challenges that diversity presents. BCSTA is proud to be hosting education delegates from across Canada at CSBA Congress in July 2013 in Vancouver. We look forward to lively presentations, discussions, networking and social events that focus attention on all issues surrounding diversity. Our keynote speaker, The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, former Governor General of Canada, is an ideal candidate to set the stage for this event. She will address our Congress 2013 theme of Diversity Matters. In the boardroom. In the classroom. In public education. during her opening presentation. We invite you to contribute to this event with your own presentation on our theme.
