Deputy Lester Sullivan Retires After 38 Years of Service October 19, 2010 – On October 4, 2010, Deputy Lester Sullivan retired after serving the Cambridge Police Department, the City of Cambridge, and its citizens for 38 years. He began his service in 1972 as a Cambridge Police Cadet, and through hard work and dedication, graduated to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police. During a gathering of his colleagues at the Cambridge Police Department to celebrate his career and present him with a commemorative clock, many of Sullivan’s coworkers and friends shared well wishes. Superintendent Christopher Burke said, “Lester was always a great source of information, and the commitment and hard work he showed was amazing.” Superintendent Steven Williams remarked, “We talk about people leaving and that there’s a void…This void isn’t going to be filled.” After accepting his clock and hearing the kind words of his friends and those gathered to wish him well, Deputy Sullivan addressed his colleagues for the last time saying, “This has been a great place to work and it’s a great place because of all the people…I couldn’t have done it without you.” The Cambridge Police Department would like to thank Lester Sullivan for his years of service to the department, the city, and the community, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
