Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing: Including MOU in Budget Extender a Failure of Leadership If Governor Cuomo Wanted These Funds Released, Why Include the MOU in the Extender? The Time for Excuses Is Over, Cut the MOU or Sign It Today ALBANY – The Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing issued the following statement on the emergency budget extender that Governor Cuomo submitted to the State Legislature, which continues to require a Memorandum of Understanding between the Governor and the legislative leaders to be signed before supportive housing funds can be released: “Once again, the Governor has failed to lead the way on supportive housing for the homeless. Actions speak louder than words. After more than a year of promises, speeches, and press releases, the budget extender he sent to the legislature today requires an MOU before the funds for supportive housing passed in last year’s budget can be released. The time for excuses and needless delay is over. Either strip the MOU out of the extender bill, or sign the MOU tomorrow. There is no need for homeless New Yorkers to wait even longer for funds that were promised 15 months ago.”
