Jeremy, when you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up? I grew up within a household where watching TV was frowned upon, so of course from an early age I was fascinated by television and how it worked. After discovering the community channel’s volunteer program during a grade 8 career day, I immersed myself in TV production. Following my postsecondary education I returned to the industry and was thrust into management at an early age. I discovered I had a passion for managing and leading.
There are many compelling reasons to undertake an Executive MBA Program. What is your goal for the Telfer Executive MBA program? My goal for the Telfer Executive MBA program is to build a theoretical foundation to support and enhance my managerial and leadership skills. I am eager to learn new skills and techniques which will strengthen my decision-making abilities across all functions of the business. In addition, the Program provides many networking opportunities within the pool of Executive MBA candidates, alumni and professors as well as with the many organizations we will collaborate with over the next two years.
Jeremy, what qualities do you admire in a mentor? Do you have someone you consider a strong mentor in your own life? To me, a mentor is someone who is honest, genuine and has the courage to provide you with meaningful feedback and advice. I have been fortunate to work for and around leaders who exhibit these qualities, and the impact these mentors have had on my career has been immeasurable.
