We can retire verified emission-reduction offsets in the name of the individual or business for whom the carbon offsets were purchased. The purchaser can arrange for the recipient to receive either an email or a printed certificate acknowledging the retirement of the offsets with the unique serial number issued by the Climate Action Reserve. The City of Arcata has verified forest carbon offsets from the Arcata Community Forest (CAR 935 & 575), Climate Reserve Tonnes (CRT’s). This enables the City to provide voluntary carbon offsets available for purchase to the general public at just

Arcata Community Forest Carbon offsets are certificates that represent a reduction of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Projects that prevent the release of greenhouse gases earn these credits, which can then in turn be sold to other businesses and Northern Spotted individuals to Owl voluntarily offset the emissions they generate. One carbon offset is equivalent to saving of one metric tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2). By ensuring that carbon from these trees will remain sequestered within the Community Forest in perpetuity, the City of Arcata is showing how sustainable forest management can be part of the solution to dealing with climate change.
